Lance Bass - Interview

T April 1999

TeenBeat: What were you like when you were growing up, what kind of kid were you?

Lance: I was like a really crazy idiot when I was little. I was very hyper, that’s all I loved to do was just play and play. I was just a little comedian – everyone was like, źou’re gonna grow up to be a comedian". And then really matured and now I’m laid back. I totally changed.

TeenBeat: Did you have a pet growing up?

Lance: My first pet was Goldie and he was a cocker spaniel. I was in first grade.

TeenBeat: Can you remember something that you did that got you in a lot of trouble?

Lance: I used to get in so much trouble every day – just stupid stuff like going out to the woods and not coming back for hours and my family having to call the police.

TeenBeat: Did you ever get detention?

Lance: Yes, but not from being bad. I got detention for being late because I’m late to everything.

TeenBeat: Describe your room.

Lance: In Mississsippi, I have a house. My room is very clean since I’ve only slept there twice. I have a bunk bed, but they’re not bunk – they’re like two separate beds. It’s all wooden, everything is like wooden. I have Beanie Babies galore!

TeenBeat: What’s your favorite one?

Lance: "Toughie". He’s a dog. I like all the dogs. I hated Beanie Babies at first, then they kept on giving them to us and I was like, "Okay they’re cool". And now I collect them.

TeenBeat: You didn’t like them at first?

Lance: No, I hated them, I hated the idea of how stupid they were. And then fans would give us Beanie Babies and then they were like all cool, real cute.

TeenBeat: How many do you have?

Lance: I have like 60.

TeenBeat: Are you looking for any?

Lance: Yeah, plenty of them. I was looking for Ally – the alligator. And there’s a frog. I just got the Princess Diana Bear and the Valentine Bear – any of the bears are cool. The brown bears are the hardest to find. Someone gave me the Official Membership Kit where you get the pictures of all of them and started checking them off. I have all the McDonald’s ones too. Half of them are at the apartment here –Orlando. My parents are coming tonight and they’re going to take them back.

TeenBeat: How would you describe your personality?

Lance: I’m just happy. I just try to be happy and friendly, stay positive, and not be mad at anything.

TeenBeat: Do you have a motto?

Lance: I just like it’s your last. Just live it up.

TeenBeat: What’s your worst habit?

Lance: I say, "um"a lot. I always say, "um".

TeenBeat: How would you describe your style?

Lance: It differs, I go from sporty to dressing up. Suits are fun but I like stylish dress up. Parasuco is my favorite designer. He’s canadian. It’s out of Toronto and Montreal. He’s spreading out to New York and LA. He specializes in stretch material, so all his jeans are kind of stretchy and tight. It’s really cool. JC loves Parasuco too, they all love Parasuco, but me and JC are into it the most.

TeenBeat: What is your happinest memory?

Lance: There have been so many happy memories in the last two years. My sister got married a year ago and that was a very happy moment. Finding out we went to number two here was just incredible. Presenting the Bee Gees with their life time achievement award was a highlight so, there’s all kind of stuff. Every day is a different experience.
