Other abbreviations
A = Abundant: thousands can be collected if needed
C = Common: always available in adequate numbers
R = Rare: difficult to get in any quantity
CB = Captive Bred

Usually, a species is rare only until somebody finds out how they can be collected in quantity, either by special techniques or better understanding of their life habits. Some species, such as land tortoises, are common only in a certain habitat and "common" may not be a good indicator of their conservation status. They are habitat dependent and efforts to save their habitat (high montane forests) would be high on the priority list of anybody wanting to preserve these species.

Please note that the above criteria are mostly NOT based on any scientific population study. These are based on personal commercial experience plus a bit of field information.
