Rainforests of the World

Rain forests are like an undiscovered world encircling the globe. They occur in a belt around and near the equator between 20 degrees north latitude and 20 degrees south latitude. The forests are mainly found in Africa, Hawaii, the Philippines and the largest ecosystem of them all is situated in South America. Different countries have different types of rainforests.

African rainforests have their own qualitites. Even though every rainforest on the continent of Africa is different they all have similar qualitites. African rainforests are shorter than other rainforests of the world and are less dense. These qualitites make it easier for elephants to travel through these forests.

The largest rainforests left in the world are in Central and South America. The Amazonia rainforests of Brazil is home to many unique creatures like the pink river dolphin and the giant armadillo.

Asian rainforests resemble huge lollipop orchards and range from the west coast ofIndia to Indonesia, the Philippines, New Guinea and some of the tropical islands of the Pacific. Here animals like orangoutans and macaques live among the huge trees of these rainforests.
