Headbangers/TAKA Michinoku vs. Kaientai w/Yamaguchi San
Solid match. Headbangers got in some good moves that were un-Headbanger-like. Resembled more of a Japanese style of wrestling than US wrestling. TAKA wins it for his team after pinning Funaki with the Michinoku Driver.
At this point, Sable comes to the ring and introduces Vince McMahon. Vince comes to the ring, along with Jack Brisco and Pat Patterson. As they escort Sable out of the ring, Patterson pats her on her bottom. She slaps the teeth out of him! Vince goes on to say that the entire crowd has disappointing lives, and they are going to be disappointed if they expect Steve Austin to remain the champion after tonight.
KOTR SEMIFINALS:
Ken Shamrock vs. Jeff Jarrett
Not much to talk about here. Shamrock hits the huricanrana and then the ankel lock submission. Double J gives up in record time.
The Rock vs. Dan Severn
Quick match. Rock and Severn both knocked out in the ring. The Godfather and Mark Henry distract the referee. D-Lo enters the ring from the other side, wearing some sort of chest protector. He does a frogsplash on Severn and then quickly leaves. The Rock easily pins him for the victory. I believe this is Severn's first ever loss in pro-wrestling.
Too Much vs. Al Snow/Head
Before the match starts, Jerry "The King" Lawler is announced as the special guest referee. The crowd was dead for this match. No heat whatsoever. Strange. Looks like the Head isn't going to go that far in the WWF. Even with the fact that Lalwer and Too Much were cheating like they've never cheated before, no crowd reaction. As for the match, towards the end, Snow tags in the Head, and he uses it as a weapon. Snow hits the Snow-Plow on Tayler. Lalwer puts a bottle of "Head and Shoulders" on teh Head and allows Christopher to pin it for the victory.
X-Pac w/Chyna vs. Owen Hart
Strange match. X-Pac on the outside, and Mark Henry squashes him. Chyna confronts Henry, and Vader attacks Henry! The ref is distracted by this fight, and Owen puts X-Pac in the Sharpshooter. Chyna, with the ref still distracted, DDTs Owen. X-Pac easily pins him for the victory.
TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
New Age Outlaws w/Chyna vs. Midnight Express
Not much here. NAO wins. Nuff said. Highlight was when Jim Cornette was confronting the Road Dog in the ring. Chyna sneaks up behind him and delivers a low blow.
KING OF THE RING FINALS
Ken Shamrock vs. The Rock
Fast paced match. The Rock got into a small fight with Triple H, who was doing color commentary. Not much, but it was still cool to watch. As fo the match, Shamrock appeared to be knocked out. The Rock stand over him to taunt him, and Shamrock flips him over, right into the ankel lock! The Rock gives up!! Ladies and Gentlemen, the 1998 King of the ring, KEN SHAMROCK!!!
HELL IN A CELL MATCH:
Undertaker vs. Mankind
Mankind comes out first, with a chair, and throws it on top of the cage. He then goes up to get it. Undertaker comes out and follows Mankind to the top. They fight, and the Taker throws Mankind off the cage, right through the Spanish announcer's desk!!!! OH MY GOD! Not like what Shawn Micahels did last year, hanging on and then falling. He was THROWN OFF. EMTs put Mankind on a stretcher and take him away. But he gets back up and climbs back on top! Undertaker CHOKESLAMS MANKIND THROUGH THE ROOF OF THE CAGE!!!!
EMTs now in the ring, along with the Undertaker. UT chokeslams Terry Funk, who came out to check on Mankind. Fight continues. Mankind on the outside of the ring, Undertaker flies over the ropes, but lands face first into the cage, busting himself open. Mankind gets a bag from under the ring. He spills out the contents: THUMBTACKS!!! They fight some more, and Mankind climbs on the UT's back, applying the Mandible Claw. UT fights back and throws Mankind back first on the thumbtacks. He then follows it up with a chokeslam on the thumbtacks, and then a Tombstone for the victory. After the match, the crowd applauds and chants "Foley! Foley!"
FIRST BLOOD MATCH FOR THE WWF CHAMPIONSHIP:
Steve Austin vs. Kane
Near the beginning of the match, the cage starts to lower again, and then raise. What??? The ref is then knocked out accidentally. No ref now. Mankind enters with a chair, but Austin Stuns him, along with Kane. The Taker is now in the ring, alogn with a chair. He and Austin plan to hit Mankind, but he ducks. Taker's chair hits Austin's chair, hitting him in the head, busting him open. UT pours gasoline on the referee, and Kane attacks the Taker. The ref sees Austin's blood and calls for the bell. Kane is the new WWF Champion!
