Judgement Day 17/10/98

Updated: 21/10/98

Not a great PPV. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't great. Too many low blows, sleeper holds, and at least 2 "trees of woe."

Marc Mero vs. Al Snow w/Head

Before the match starts, Jeff Jarrett comes out and tries to get into the match officially, but Mero and the ref say no. He leaves. Bye-bye. Not much to say about this match. Mero misses with both the Marvelocity and the TKO. After the missed TKO, Snow catches Mero in the Snow Plow (a combination between Goldberg's Jackhammer and the Michinoku Driver) and pins Mero for the win.

LOD 2000/Droz vs. DOA/Paul Ellering

Hawk looks pretty good back in the ring. He and Animal hit the Devastation Device on either Skull or 8-Ball. Hawk is the legal man, but Droz runs in and pins the DOA member for the victory. Hawk looks pretty annoyed. After the match, Droz says that Hawk is a little too slow to pin after the D.D.

LIGHT HEAVYWEIGHT CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
TAKA Michinoku (champion) vs. Christian w/Gangrel

No cheating from Gangrel. Edge is in the audience. Christian is very impressive in his first WWF match. This man has quite a future in the WWF ahead of him. Highlight of this match was a springboard plancha from the 2nd rope over the top rope to the outside of the ring. Whoa. TAKA goes for the Michinoku Driver, and Edge reverses it into a roll up and pins TAKA for the victory. Hey, wait a minute. Christian wins a championship in his very first match!! Talk about a push.

Val Venis w/Terri Runnels vs. Goldust

Before the match starts, Venis does his usual "Hello, Ladies" speech, but his mic goes dead and we hear Goldust talking. Goldust then comes out to pretty big pop. I never knew Goldust was this popular when he was first in the WWF. During the match, Terri gets on the ring apron and tells Goldust "You ruined my life!" Venis and Goldust tie up and Venis is almost thrown into Terri. The ref is distracted. Goldust hits Venis with a low blow and pins him for the victory.

EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
D'Lo Brown (champion) vs. X-Pac

Very good match. Fast paced. D'Lo is another man with a bright future in the WWF, that is if WCW doesn't snatch him away and ruin him before his time. After the ref is knocked out, Mark Henry comes out and confronts Chyna. D'Lo grabs the title belt and uses it as a weapon on X-Pac. The ref back up and registers only a 2 count. X-Pac kicked out. D'Lo then tries a spear-headbutt from the top rope, but X-Pac turns it into a facebuster and pins D'Lo for the victory. X-Pac is the new Champion!

WWF TAG TEAM CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
New Age Outlawas (champions) vs. Headbangers

Billy Gunn gets his clock cleaned throughout the entire match by the Headbangers. The Road Dog gets fed up with it and hits Mosh with a boombox. Headbangers win by DQ.

INTERCONTINENTAL CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Ken Shamrock vs. Mankind

Strange ending to a not-so great match. After two ankel locks, Mankind goes crazy and gives the Mandible Claw to himself, making himself pass out. The ref stops the match and says that Shamrock wins because of the Claw. Shamrock goes crazy and attacks the referee. Mankind brings back Socko and gives Shamrock the "Mandible Sock"!

The Rock vs. Mark Henry

D'Lo Brown distracts the Rock. Henry hits the Rock with a clothesline and follows it up with a big splash. D'Lo holds down the Rock's legs and Henry pins him for the victory.

WWF CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH:
Undertaker vs. Kane
Special Guest Referee - Steve Austin

Very slow match. Austin gives a slow count for the Undertaker, but a super-fast count for Kane! He even gave them suggestions on how to use weapons during the match. They go crazy during the match and attack Austin. Kane then chokeslams the Taker. Paul Bearer comes out and hits Kane with a chair! The Undertaker grabs the chair and hits Kane with it, knocking him out. Austin then hits the Stunner on the Taker and hits him with a chair. He then counts them both out and declars himself the Champion! He then goes looking for Vince McMahon in the backstage area, and comes back out. Vince shows up and tells Austin he's fired. Austin says that Vince hasn't seen the last of Stone Cold Steve Austin and has his music played one last time.
