History:

After the fire (See: The Herd and the Fire), Mark and I moved into my parents' mobile home while the house was being rebuilt. Both of my sisters lived on this same court at the time and Tammy was still having trouble keeping her cats inside. Since I've always fed outside cats in whatever neighborhood I lived, hers started coming to visit us as well.

Tammy had already asked me to adopt one of her cats but as this is a very small home, it was already pretty crowded and I'd said "no" at the time. She'd recognized that she couldn't properly care for her cats and was trying hard to find good homes for them.

Well, who should be among my visitors but "Bruce Lee?" He adopted Mark and me right from the start! He was constantly at the front door and tried to sneak in every chance he got. One day, though while loving on him, I noticed a lump under his skin.

Upon asking Tammy about it, she said that ha came home once with a sore above the lump's location. That really had me worried, especially when Nala also paid a visit with a perfectly round hole in the skin near her spine!! I suspected that someone was shooting at cats with a BB gun.

It was later confirmed that Kahn's lump was indeed a BB lodged beneath his skin! :-( According to my vet, there's nothing to worry about unless it starts bothering him! :-)

Mark and I talked about it at length. We came to the conclusion that we could handle one more kitty. We were going to have to rename him, though. Since there was Bruno here, we thought it would be confusing for the cats. Bruno and Bruce sound an awful lot alike. We finally came up with Kubla Kahn as the name began with a 'K' and he looks like an asian emporer. The 'K' was for his littermate, Kitana ! :-)

Kahn's condition was terrible! He was loaded with fleas and skinny from worm infestation. Our vet weighed him before his neutering. The poor baby only weighed 11 lbs! :-(

Mark and I both knew that with care, he'd blossom once again and boy did he! LOL He isn't as large as many cats get to be but he's the biggest cat I've ever had, weighing in at 16 lbs so far. :-)

As Kahn became used to his new surroundings, he became both more loving and more ornery! He and Bruno began having territory scraps. They both wanted to be kings of their little castle as the alpha male. Neither one of them knows that Winchester is the true alpha male! :-) lol

Kahn has since settled in beautifully! :-) He and some of the others still have the occasional "hissy spits" (See: Dif-fur-nitions) but that's a normal thing, here. When Kahn & Kitana's little sister Nala arrived, Kahn showed yet another side of his character.

He rarely left his diminuative sister's side and when she gave birth, he was always trying to mother the babies as though they were his own! :-) As they grew old enough to spend more time out of the cage they were born in, he did take an active role with them. He bathed and stimulated them as though he were the mother rather than Nala. Watching this in a big boy like Kahn just endeared me to him nore! :-)

He's huge, handsome, playful, loving and an excellent addition to the Herd!! I can't imagine the Herd without him, now! :-) If I point down at him, he'll reach up and grab my hand to pull it back down to him for loving. He keeps my back warm at night and he keeps my heart warm all of the time! :-) Kubla Kahn, I made a great choice when I brought you in and I love you!!!
