"If Only, They Could Talk"

"I despise and abhor the pleas on behalf of that infamous practice, vivisection...I would rather submit to the worst of deaths, so far as pain goes, than have a single dog or cat tortured to death on the pretense of sparing me a twinge or two."

~ Robert Browning~

CLAW Cats Care

I will freely admit that I am very, very, obsessive when it comes to the treatment of animals. Everyone who knows me knows it and usually walk on eggs to avoid a slip of the tongue about any cruelty or reference to cruelty to animals. I have lost many "so-called" friends over my feelings on the subject. But really, who would be most important in the situation? The ignorant ?!@?*!'s, who don't feel like I do, or the innocent, voiceless animals who need all the support they can get?

So, I would like to say right up front. If you don't have strong feelings for animal rights and don't feel you might learn something here about kindness toward animals, you might as well GO AWAY NOW!! I don't want my pages degraded by idiots who don't know, don't care and are too stuck on themselves to give a little to something that gives so much in return. You get, or don't get, what you deserve. What you miss by not having the love of an animal you will never know, if you get your kicks by brutalizing something that has no way to fight back. Animal abusers are cowards, who no one admires, and; they are IGNORANT. Oh, and I don't like stupid people.

On the other hand, I must say, though, that I have found so many animal lovers and animal rights activists on the Web, that it has raised my opinion of the human race....It is so true that one bad apple.....Because just one story of abuse tears me apart and it takes alot to get over it, if I ever do. No, I don't and that is why I continue to speak for them and I always will.

I am probably the most antiviolent person in the world, but I DO believe in temporary insanity. Because if I had to see, in person, some of the cruelty I have seen portrayed, or stories I have read, I could definitely hurt somebody. Maybe kill them. I know I would get strength out of nowhere. I cannot stand to see violence, even fights between people. There is NO WAY I could stand by and watch something helpless being hurt. I have taken animals away from people who were abusing or neglecting them, but if I couldn't get them out of the situation, I'd have to find another way to stop the abuse.

Stray Pup Poem

I happened to come across an HBO special awhile back, called "Animals: Love Them Or Kill Them". I was frozen with the horror. It actually took my breath away....I had to change the channel just to be able to breathe. But then I'd put it back because I could not believe that I had seen what I thought I had.

Oh, and it only got worse and worse. I warned everyone I knew not to watch it. It wasn't a situation where anyone was condemning any of the brutality, it was just exploiting it and probably giving some weirdos ideas. It was a sick film to make, and HBO should be ashamed of themselves for making it. They didn't film it to try and stop it, just to make a buck! Boy, greed has taken over every aspect of our lives!!! And of course, the animals are taking the brunt of it. Everytime I think about the things in that film that I now know go on every single day (thank you very much HBO), I get weak from the thought of the fear all the animals must surely feel. The people in this world that think that an animal must die a torturous, lingering death so the meat will taste better, should be made to eat tree bark the rest of their lives. And a large part of this world believes this.

SPCA .

I am once again on a huge downer regarding China. The brutality that is shown to their own people, and the fact that we have made the last bastion of Communism our most favored nation, is bad enough. But the hellish treatment of dogs and cats there is beyond my imagination. Of course, they are food there, but that is no excuse to terrorize them all the short days of their lives and then kill them in the most painful fashion they could conceive. I'd love to change the world, but I can't. We can't even stop the abuse of our pets here in our own country. I think it is time to get together and make a stand. With all the people that love animals and are against abuse that I have found on the internet, I think we could be a movement. Movements work! They worked for civil rights, they worked for Women's rights, Gay rights, you name it....they work.

The animals can't do it for themselves, but we can. Laws can be changed and it only takes people to get it done. A lot of really concerned, dedicated people. Just like so many I have found here!! The computer is probably the only way we could ever get enough one-minded people together to make a difference. But it must be done. How civilized are we, as a nation, as a people, when things like the Noah's Ark tragedy can happen and NOTHING is done? Have we evolved or are we reverting back to brutality? I think the latter..... Think about it. We are all over this country. There are a lot of us! Let's step up to the plate. If you agree, let me know. In 1977, my mother, my girlfriend and I started a group called Planned Population for Pets and got about a quarter of the vets in this town involved. It takes getting the word out in the media. Nobody wants to be on the bad end of the stick. We did a lot of good for a few years and some other good groups came out of it that are still going.
