September Meeting

Meeting called to order after the annual specialty puppy/obedience match at 2:35 PM. Members in attendance were Kathy DeChello, Mike Esch, Julie Niemeyer, Joanne Bodzon, Martha Roeder, Phil Rinehart, Mary Lange, John Pradlik, Ginny Cuneo, Judy Virchow, Helen Campbell, Karen Martin, and Vicki Schier. Guests in attendance were Ray and Lois Hokanson. Thank you Ray for being our breed judge for this match. Thank you Karen Jordan for judging our sweeps competition! Thank you also to Phil and Julie , co-chairs of the match, and all the great club members who helped make this match another big success!

Minutes from the August meeting accepted as mailed. Treasurers report read and accepted.

Old Business– Judges for the upcoming 2002 and 2003 specialty shows are confirmed. AKC has given approval for the 2002 show except for the parent club approval. Mary is still looking into alternative show sites for future shows. Suggestions are welcome, let Mary know. Big E- HSCC day is Sunday Sept 30th. Club members who will be attending were given parking passes and tickets. Logo– Ann-Marie submitted photos of Hawk to Phil to work on creating a new club logo.

New Business-Vicki has asked for volunteers to learn to be show secretary. If any one is interested please let Vicki know ASAP. Joanne will be donating a challenge trophy in memory of Shane. Details to follow. A trophy inventory will need to be scheduled in the immediate future to determine the number and colors of Mosser Glass to be purchased for show trophies. Barbara Lindner has purchased a number of mystery novels with a picture of Joe Reno’s blue bitch on the cover. These will be sold at our show at the rescue table. In the wake of the NYC disaster, it was suggested that a donation be made to assist with any dog related issues. Discussion tabled until next meeting. Mary made an inquiry about dates available for a Holiday Party on a Camelot Cruise. No dates are available for this year. Please bring ideas for this years Holiday Party.

Elections will be held at the October meeting. The slate presented by the nominating committee is as follows; President– Karen Martin, Vice President– Mary Lange, Treasurer– Joanne Bodzon, Secretary– Kathy DeChello, 2 Yr Board members– Vicki Schier, Barbara Lindner, 1 Yr Board member– Ginny Cuneo

Special points of interest: October Meeting to be held at the Hartford Courant Building in Middletown, CT. Collie Club of Connecticut has requested this be a dual club meeting to discuss the 2004 national. Directions: From the north, take Rt 9 south to exit 13 (Main St.), keep right, take Main St. extension (no number). At the bottom of the ramp take left onto Main St. extension. Go straight until you get to 2 lights close together. Go through the first light and take a right at the second light onto East Main St. Turn right at first light into Hartford Courant. From the south, take Rt 9 north to exit 12, Bow Lane. Follow to end and take right onto Main St. extension. Right at second light onto East Main St., turn right at first light into Hartford Courant.
