October Meeting

The HSCC October meeting was called to order at 8:05 PM in the Hartford Courant Building in Middletown. Members in attendance were Helen Campbell, Judy Virchow, Kathy Dechello, Ginny Cuneo, Barbara Lindner, John Pradlik, Mary Lange, Nancy Herhe, Shelley LaPaugh, Mike Esch, Vicki Schier, Joanne Bodzon, Tess Esch, and Karen Martin. Guests in attendance were Karen and Gary Jordan.

September Meeting Minutes accepted as mailed. Treasurers report accepted as read.

Old Business: HSCC members and dogs attended the Big E on Sunday Sept 30th. A good time was had by all and many applications for rescue collies were handed out to potential new collie homes. Thank you to all who worked the exhibit! Barbara received the books “Winners Bitch” , signed by the author, and are available to purchase. Karen to send a thank you note to author. Karen has reached Ted Paul and is making arrangements to get more “Christmas Collie” books for our Feb. show. February Show: All paperwork approved for our upcoming show, judges are all set for this year and next year. Our judges for this year are Dr. Cindi Bossart for sweeps, Hildy Morgan for Breed and Juniors, and James Edwards for obedience. Nancy Herhe has volunteered to be Obedience Chair for this show. Thank you Nancy! Trophies: Mary inventoried the Mosser Glass trophies we have in stock. We will need to order more of a specific color or award a variety of colors as trophies this year. Joanne will ask Lynn Weymer how to order more.

New Business: Mary will purchase an American flag with pole and stand to be used at club functions. Price may be split with CCCT and shared with that club. CDF Dues are due, Joanne to send in dues for CDF and a $100 donation towards their legal fund for canine legislation. Judy has volunteered to be the club liaison for CDF and offered her e-mail address for quick contact by CDF. Joanne will send a $100 donation to CCA Trophy fund to sponsor a HSCC club trophy for the 2002 national. Joanne will send a $100 donation to CCAF. Joanne will send a $200 donation to the NYPD/FDNY for the September 11th disaster relief fund.

Elections: A vote was cast by the secretary to accept the election slate as presented by the nomination committee. The new HSCC officers and Board members for 2002 are: Karen Martin—President, Mary Lange—Vice President, Joanne Bodzon—Treasurer, Kathy DeChello—Secretary, Vicki Schier 2 YR Board, Barbara Lindner 2 YR Board, Ginny Cuneo 1 YR Board.

Special points of interest: Martha Roeder has graciously offered to have the annual Holiday Party at her home on Sunday December 15th. It will be a combined gathering of our club and CCCT. Thank you Martha !

CCA District Director Ballots– Many of the ballots were sent to Ct members with the Colorado list of names. If you got the wrong one, please call the number on the front and ask for the correct one!
