Gerbils are the most active (hyper hyper!) of the pet rodents; they're always exploring, sniffing, looking... Doing something! Even their sleep schedule (which differs from most rodents' nocturnal attitudes) reflects this; taken in small catnaps thoughout the day and night, it's as if they're afraid they're going to miss something by sleeping too long!
Katina and Gergesa are both friendly, tame, and very curious! Katina seems to be the most out-going of the two; reach a hand into the cage, and she'll find you immediately, scoot up your arm and start exploring. Gergesa takes a little more encouragement before she can be convinved to come out, but once she's out she's just as curious and active as Katina!
Actually, in personality gerbils are probably my second favorite rodent, second only to my rats' intelligent and affectionate attitudes. Among the non-rat rodents, gerbils are the best! At least, in my opinion. I just admire their enthusiasm and curiousity; and maybe even their hyper-activeness, pretty different from a mouse's calm, collective behavior much less a hamster's compartiviely lathargic personalities!
