Major (Retired) John L Swartz (A-1502)                                                          
died on 27 January 1997 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Funeral Mass was at St. Ann's Catholic Church in Prairie Village, Kansas with burial in St. John Cemetery attended by family and friends as well as members of C-29, Special Forces Association. A military honor guard and firing squad from Ft. Leavenworth Kansas, performed the military honors. He was a past president of the Delaware Crossing Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution and served as advanced Chairman for the boy Scouts of America. He also was the third Commander of the 1st Special Forces Battalion, 12th Special Forces Group (A). He served with the 12th SFG(A) from 1964-1966.


Donald W. Bemis (M-2960)
died 10 May 1996 in Leavenworth, KS, 'Don' was a member of Chapter 29 in KS, A Graveside Service was held at the Leavenworth National Cemetery on 15 May 1996. Don served in Vietnam with A-502, CCC. When he joined the Association in 1980. He listed the following Special Forces assignments:

12th SFGAA Kansas 1975
Don is buried at Leavenworth National Cemetery, Section 47, Row 24, Grave 42


FIRST SERGEANT (RETIRED) JAMES R. MILLER(D770)
died on 9 March 1995 in Albuquerque, NM. after a long illness. "Mitch" was a member of Chapter 56 and a former Park Ranger at Perry State Park. Graveside services and internment were at West Lawn Gardens Cemetery, Topeka, Ks. on 21 March 1995 with full military honors provided by members of Chapter 29 acting as pall bearers and firing squad. "Mitch" served two yours in Vietnam and was the recipient of numerous awards to include the Silver Star, Bronze Star to include the Oak Leaf Cluster and the Combat Medical Badge second award. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Forces Association, Chapter 29, 17311 E Hwy 40, E-12, Independence, MO. When he joined the Association in 1972 he listed the following SF assignments:

Donald C. Ferrell D-4536
died Monday, 2 August 1999. Donald served with the 5th SFG (A) in Vietnam from 1965 to 1969 and again in 1971 & 1972. Burial will take place in Arlington National Cemetary. Date and time unknown.

Master Sergeant (Retired) Ronald H Brewer M-4095
died 15 February 2000 in Belton, Mo. Ron was a member of Chapter 29 and was Chapter Secretary at the time of his death. Services were held at Park Lawn Chapel in Kansas City, MO with Miltary Honors at Green Lawn Cemetary. A private burial was conducted at Leavenworth National Cemetary, Leavenworth, KS.
