RSN, Royal Navy exercise

The Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and the Royal Navy (RN) of the United Kingdom are now conducting their first bilateral exercise.

Codenamed Exercise Lion Heart, the exercise started yesterday at the Royal Navy's shorebased Maritime Warfare Centre (MWC) and the HMS Dryad in Southwick. It will continue until June 24.

The RSN's Colonal Kevin Santa Maria, Commander of the First Flotilla, will lead the team of 10 Singapore officers in war-gaming at the MWC as well as discussions on maritime warefare and operational planning.

In a joint press release yesterday, the Singapore and British defence minisitries said the exercise would strengthen the understanding and co-operation between the two navies and enhance the warm defence relations between the two countries.
