The
Complete Phantom Of The Opera
Synopsis: Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical Phantom of the Opera has been a smash hit worldwide. Now, here is the definitive account of this theatrical masterpiece, tracing the Phantom legend from its origins in historical fact through numerous artistic incarnations to the present day. The book includes the complete libretto and many specially commissioned color photographs of the production.
The Phantom
Of The Opera, By Gastom LeRoux
Synopsis: Gaston Leroux is one of the originators of the detective story, and The Phantom of the Opera is his tour de force, as well as being the basis for the hit Broadway musical. A superb suspense story and dark tale of obsession, Phantom has thrilled and entertained audiences in adaptations throughout the century.
Synopsis: The award-winning author of Legacy presents a "haunting and unforgettable . . . tour de force" (Publishers Weekly). This incredible portrait of Erik--the Phantom--recreates his entire life, from his survival as a child in a carnival freak show to his creative genius behind the Paris Opera House--and its labyrinthine world below--to his discovery of love.
Angel
at the Opera; Sherlock Holmes meets The Phantom Of The Opera
Synopsis: The premise sounds hokey--Sherlock Holmes dispatched to Paris to solve the Paris Opera House's problem with a certain phantom. Basil Rathbone meets Andrew Lloyd Webber. But the surprise is that novelist Siciliano actually pulls it off. The narrator here is Holmes' cousin, physician Henry Vernier, a lively substitute for Dr. Watson, who is on the outs with Holmes (and who comes in for his share of dissing from the proprietary Vernier). The book opens as one case is ending and the Paris Opera case beginning, but by the last page, Siciliano has neatly if rather obviously tied the two together. Once in Paris, the familiar story of the Phantom of the Opera and his love of singer Christine Daae proceeds apace, but the tale seems fresher and deeper, thanks both to the invigorating presence of Holmes and Vernier and to the wealth of marvelous detail, especially on the Paris Opera House itself. Let's hope this thoroughly enjoyable mystery is the start of a new Holmes series!
