It has been a long time since some coincidental events led to what has now become quite a long tale. The Battle of the Lily Galaxy(working title) began as an insult, a challenge, an accident.

Quizzard and I were members of an online community, and as it happened, we both loved to write. We chatted a bit and we insulted each other a bit(all in good humor). One day I posted on the site's forum a topic that later became the first chapter of the first saga of Battle of the Lily Galaxy. I meant it more as a mockery, but Quizzard took it as a challenge and posted in response what became the second chapter. And we continued from there.

When we first started out, our goal was to use as many names of site memebers as we could in the story to spark interest and also to encourage others to add their own chapters. A few joined in, as noted in their respective chapter headings. The audience was not large, but a few die-hard fans, along with our enjoyment of the story kept us going.

The first saga got old fast. We made the mistake of allowing those who had characters in the saga to choose which side they were on, the evil Quizzard's or the valiant Sir Twead's. This resulted in many characters switching sides during the story and chaos ruled. Needless to say, we were almost greatful to end it while friendship lasted. :)

Months after the first saga ended, we talked and decided we would give it another go. This time, we avoided writing as good and evil, and simply each chose characters to write. Once again, we drew from among the site members for new additions to our growing world.

The second saga of Battle of the Lily Galaxy started off well. Many members were glad to see it back, and gave us a lot of encouragement to continue. The story began to develop and grow into something larger and more complex than we had ever anticipated. Starting where the first saga ended, the second saga exploded with plot and characterization and a quest that the first had only vaguely hinted at.

As the story progressed, we again encouraged other members to add their own chapters to the growing tale. Again this did not turn out as well as hoped. Writers with differing opinions of certain characters wrote conflicting chapters, and inconsistencies began to surface.(That will explain some of the story conflicts). The problems were few, however, and the story progressed nicely.

In the beginning, Quizzard and I posted our individual chapters without discussing anything outside the story. As things progressed and things became more complex, we began to talk about various aspects of the story line. We developed the Egar and their history. We planned vague occurences and outcomes of various plot points. It was amazing how closely we both saw the path the story would follow.

And then...Quizzard disappeared. Just up and gone. I tried contacting him. Nothing. So I continued writing a few more chapters. The story slowed almost to a hault without him. Months later he returned, and we wrote chapters like mad for awhile, two and three a day sometimes. But as luck would have it, Quizzard announced that he was getting rid of his computer and would ahve no internet access. Again, I continued to write a few chapters on my own, but it has been difficult and the chapters far between. Interest in the story has dropped due to fans going their own way, etc.

And that brings us to the present. Quizzard is back and we will soon discuss the future of this grand tale. Perhaps we will continue to write it together. Perhaps I will go it alone while he begins his own saga. Regardless, this tale, this epic struggle against the Shadowman needs an end, and I intend to find that end. In ten chapters or a hundred, we shall discover what becomes of the Lily Galaxy.

From me, and from Quizzard, we extend an invitation to immerse yourself in the story and absorb the vitality of Amphibia. Enjoy!
