Alice just came back from a council meeting and was turning the key to her apartment door when she got the feeling someone was watching her. It was an eerie feeling and by the feeling, she knew it was Nica. She looked around but saw no one. She turned back to her door. From behind, someone grabbed her, putting his hand over her mouth and her hands behind her back. "Don't move," a voice said, but it wasn't the voice of the one holding her. Then, she heard footsteps coming up the stairway.
Another voice came. "Alice! I have to talk to you!" It was the voice of Edward, another Lhaam member, calling to her.
"Get her away from here!" the voice of the other guy said. Alice felt herself being forced to the fire escape while she tried to wriggle free and yell out to Edward. Because she was proving to be difficult, the guy brought out a piece of cotton and brought it to her nose. The chemical it had been soaked in made her dizzy and she stopped struggling. She saw Edward poke his head up and saw what was going on.
"Get away from her!" Edward yelled.
"You stay where you are, or you die!" The guy said, pulling out a gun. He backed away and the second guy holding Alice opened the door to the fire escape. Both Alice and Edward noticed how the guy's voice sounded familiar. He turned the gun onto Alice. "Any step closer and she dies as well." Alice and her captor made it outside and the second guy rushes to leave as well. Edward rushed after them but saw that it was too late. They had all disappeared.
When Alice awoke, she found herself on some type of platform. She got up and went to see if she could step off. She reached her hand out and a little, electric zap made her draw back. "I wouldn't do that if I were you," a voice said and a light turned on. Alice looked at the figure standing there in front of her. She recognized him as one of the people who had kidnapped her, the one with the voice. He still wore a mask to hide his identity.
"What do you want of me?"
"I don't expect anything from you. I just wanted to use you as a decoy to lead the others here."
"Why me? You saw Edward right there as well."
The figure shrugged. "True, I could have used him as well, but that takes the fun out of it. Besides, I wanted you for myself."
A chill coursed through her body. "What do you mean?" She asked, cautiously.
Slowly, he removed his mask. "Hello, Alice."
"Gary!?"
"Yeah, it's me." They stared at each other a moment and after a long, uncomfortable pause, he spoke again. "Come on. Let me take you to another room where you'll be more comfortable."
Hesitantly, she followed him down many passageways and into a bedroom. She gave him a strange look, but went inside. She didn't hear as he locked the door behind them.
"Look, Alice. I want to explain a few things. First of all, why you're here." He looked at her but she stayed silent, pinning him with a hard glance. He took in a deep breath and went on his explanation. "Yes, you're here to decoy the other Lhaam. It was I who suggested that you be used for the purpose. But that's not the only reason why I suggested you. Look, ever since we were together in junior high-"
Alice glared at him, causing him to cut short. "You still think that?"
"Well, yeah, I do."
"How many times do I have to tell you? That wasn't anything more than just a friendship!"
"But I wanted more than that! You denied it to me and I've been waiting for the day to show you that these feelings are real!"
"Oh yeah? Prove it!"
As soon as the words flew out of her mouth though, she regretted it. He stared at her, angry that she'd challenged him. "I love you, Alice. I always will." He took advantage of her outburst, her letting go of her resolve, and drove her against a wall. He pinned her there, and when she tried to scream out, he covered her mouth with a hard kiss. He handled her roughly, letting go of his own resolve and giving in to his animalistic desires to satisfy himself. And afterward? Alice was left alone in the room, humiliated and disgusted. The sense of being violated and used draped over her. What could she do?
A few days afterward, going on a hunch, Edward was able to locate Alice. Alone, he went to go after her, knowing full well that this was a trap. He could sense something bothering Alice as he transported himself into Alice's room. He kept himself invisible for a moment, seeing how Alice cried in bed. What did they do to you? Edward hadn't realized that he had spoken the words to her in thought and she sat up straight, looking desperately for whoever it was that spoke to her. Edward saw as she stared in horror as he materialized but then relief filled her when she saw who it was. Edward raised a finger to his lips and took her hand, transporting the two of them back to her apartment.
As soon as they were settled in, he asked again, "What did they do to you?"
Her eyes grew wide with terror and she remained mute, shaking her head as tears flowed down her face. Edward reached over to give her a hug, but she pushed him away and ran to her room, locking the door behind her. Try as he might, he couldn't get past the wall she'd built up around her. She became a shadow of herself. She had come to be Lost, and because of this, she didn't fight a second time when Gary came back for her.
Edward's heart hardened when he learned of this. He vowed to himself that one day, he would help bring back the Lost ones, especially Alice.
