Chapter 2
"So, are you ready for the big walk down that aisle?" Drew asks Jeff as they, Nick and Justin all get dressed before the wedding ceremony.
"The big walk? If you mean am I ready to make heaven true on earth then the answer is yes," Jeff responds.
"Man, if you don't stop smiling, one of us is going to hit it off your face or risk getting sick!" Nick kids as he notices that Jeff really hasn't stopped smiling for an instant.
"What can I say? I'm in love and happy to be there!"
"Men, it is time that we say good-bye to our bachelor friend and say hello to Mr. Responsible Husband and Father! We all know he will do great. It's only a matter of time for the rest of us to get married," Justin says.
"Thanks Justin. All three of you will be just as happy as I am on your day and I will be there to remind you of how much you thought I was a sap for being giddy about marrying the woman of my dreams."
"Hmm... That sounds like a threat," Nick comments.
"No, a promise."
There's a knock on the door and Jeff's older brother, Mike, pops his head in. "Are you four ready? The photographer wanted to take some before pictures of you all before the ceremony starts."
"Sure Mike. How is it that the best man looks better than I do?" Jeff asks.
"It's possible because deep down in that calm exterior you have, you are scared crapless and are looking to me, your older brother who you chose wisely to be your best man, for reason to doubt how ready you are or any other reason why this may not work."
"Huh?"
"Just trust me, you are being paranoid. Now, I'm letting the photographer come in so you best be all decent."
The photographer does indeed come in but luckily all four are finished changing before he shows up. Used to taking group pictures, the photographer is done with the guys in no time, leaving Jeff to pace around for thirty minutes before the ceremony.
Meanwhile, Amaya is in a totally frenzied state. "Jessica! Where is my other shoe?" she asks her best friend.
"On your foot! Amaya, you have to calm down babe. Everything will be fine," Jessica says, putting her hands on Amaya's shoulders to prevent her from bouncing around any further.
"What do you mean? Of course things will be fine."
"If you really believe that, stop your hysterics and breathe!"
"I am not hysterical! Where's Samantha? Does Jackie have her ready with her little flower basket?"
"Amaya! I'm serious now, chill out. Yes, Sam is with Jackie and is fine. She will make the perfect flower girl. I'm so glad the photographer took the before shots before you got this crazy. Now, look at me." Amaya does what she says and looks Jessica straight in the eyes. "You are about to marry the guy of your dreams. You two have been through so much by now that this shouldn't be that big of a deal. Six years of being together Amaya. That has to mean something."
"It means a great deal Jessica."
"Then stop fretting and worrying. Something that perfect will remain so. You'll see, this ceremony will come off well, even with all the people out there. Now, how can you hook me up with Nick?"
Amaya let's her mind stop whirling around with her worries as she laughs at her best friend. "Nick is all you think of now, huh? Well, you are going to be walking down the aisle with Mike since you are my maid of honor but you will definitely get a dance with Nick. Trust me, I'll make sure of it."
"You better! It isn't fair that you get a handsome guy if I can't!"
"Sorry to say, there are no others like Jeff, absolutely none in the world. I can of course, get you someone close."
Jessica laughs and says, "Someone close in your mind will be good enough for me! Now come on, we have to get this veil on you before you can walk down that aisle and you only have ten minutes left."
"Thanks for making that known."
"No problem. Now sit down Amaya, otherwise I'll put this on crooked," Jessica instructs as she begins the process of securing the veil on Amaya's head.
Finally, the procession begins, with Jeff's younger sister Tina and her husband walking down the aisle and lighting the candles. Then Jackie leads the rest of the wedding party down the aisle with Samantha in her arms, as well as trying to get two of Amaya's little nieces down the aisle as they toss rose petals onto the floor. At about this time, Jeff, Mike, Justin, Nick, and Drew take their places on the side of the altar, awaiting for the procession to continue. Jessica makes her way down after three other girls who are college friends of Amaya's and smiles brightly at Nick and she scopes him out in between trying not to trip on her long green gown.
Jeff lets out a huge breath he was holding in once he sees Amaya slowly walking down the same aisle on the arm of her father. 'God, please let me remember my vows,' Jeff quietly prays as Amaya finally makes it to the altar. The ceremony continues until it is time for Jeff to do what he has feared messing up for such a long time.
"I believe these two have decided to say their own vows in addition to the traditional ones. So Jeff, if you would please say yours before Amaya does," the priest says.
Slowly, Jeff raises the veil Amaya is wearing so that he can now see her face clearer and says, "Amaya, you are the sunshine to my cloudy days. You are my inspiration and my strength that never leaves me when I need you the most. No matter what, you have always been there for me. In truth, not only are you the woman I love, but my best friend out of all of my best friends. You were there when I was some average guy that was a total dweeb in college, and you stuck by me until now when I'm some average guy, out of college, with a career. I promise to do for you what you have done for me, and to always be there, through thick and thin. Our lives are now becoming one, and I can't be any happier. Until death do us part, I will always love you."
Amaya smiles as Jeff wipes a few tears that have escaped her eyes and leans down to kiss her. Realizing it is her turn, she says, "Jeff, you are the one constant thing in my life that I have been depending on for the past years. You are the reason why I worked so hard through college to get to where I am now. By that, I mean you are my inspiration, for you went out there and worked hard to get your dream, making it well known to me and many other people out there that it is possible to make anything a reality, no matter what it is. No matter where you were, no matter how far apart we were, I always felt happy and in love with you in my life, especially when you called or wrote. As you consider me as one of your best friends, I consider you my best, best friend. The one that knows me more than anyone besides myself. Sometimes, you even know me more than I do, which is scary. All I can see from that though, is that we've grown on each other a lot and I hope we continue to. The idea of a future with you Mr. Timmons, is fully of happiness for me and I hope that you feel the same. Till death do we part, I will always be here for you, loving you with my last breath."
"Now, if each of you will repeat the formal vows while we exchange the marriage bands," the priest says while Amaya quickly brushes away a tear that escaped Jeff's eye.
The two exchange wedding bands and make it to that one, final kiss that ended one chapter of their life for another. Instead of a happy engaged couple, they are now husband and wife, a more permanent and durable relationship. After one last small kiss, Jeff takes Amaya's hand in his and starts to head down the aisle, but only after he picks up Sam from Jackie. The three happily walk down the aisle and into the awaiting limo where they are taken to the hotel where the reception will be held.
The entire dinner section goes well, with Mike giving a wonderful speech for his brother and his new sister-in-law. His speech basically had references to Jeff as a young boy and what trouble he used to have with girls, leaving Mike to wonder how in the heck he found Amaya and managed to have such a beautiful daughter. He toasts to their happiness and smiles as the couple kisses under the demand of the guests. Some formal pictures are taken of Jeff and Amaya together, the ones that will make up their wedding album.
Soon, it is time for the cake to be served so Jeff and Amaya make their way to the table set up with the four tier cake and laugh as Jeff accidentally bites her finger in the process of biting off a piece of the cake and ends up getting frosting on his nose. He feels bad for this and takes Amaya's hand in his before lightly kissing the injured finger, followed by kissing Amaya fully on the lips, getting some frosting on her as a result. Amaya later eats Jeff's offered piece of cake successfully and without disaster, to Drew's and Justin's dismay, who wanted to see one of the two get messy.
Ironically, "I Do" begins playing as their song and Jeff smiles down at Amaya as she slips her hand in his and leads her to the dance floor. Once they are slowly moving to the music, they find the chance to talk, one of the rare moments of the night.
"So, we are finally married," Jeff says, looking into Amaya's deep brown eyes.
"Yes, we sure are. Can you believe that it's all done now? I am actually surprised that those fans of yours didn't figure out where this was happening today," Amaya answers.
"Well, we did pay for high secrecy and security today. Do you have any regrets?"
"None. What about you?"
"Just one. I wish that we could have gone on a honeymoon right away. I feel bad that we have to tour and wrap up our new album in the next few weeks. Although, having you there by my side should be a nice, comforting thing."
"Hopefully, Sam will allow us to go with you. As for not having the honeymoon right away, it's okay. It can wait, considering that it has been numerous years that we've shared together. I know you aren't going to go anywhere, just as you should know that I won't be either."
"You better not or I'll hunt you down and your pretty daughter too!" Jeff kids before leaning down and giving Amaya a familiarly sweet kiss. The two break apart as they hear the crowd of guests clapping and cheering and finish the slow dance in silence and in perfect bliss.
