Chapter 5
After the second day of filming, Kristi could only wonder why God had blessed her with Justin when she was still cursed with William. Rebecca had invited her out to a late dinner and Kristi had readily accepted.
"So, Kristi, is anything going to come from your little romance with Mr. Justin?" Rebecca asks, drawing Kristi out of her thoughts.
"Sadly, no," Kristi says, hoping that Rebecca would drop the issue.
"Why? You two look great together! When you were filming your scenes with the supposed backstabber friends, your brother, and your parents, he was always there watching when not working on choreography or shooting it. He's in love with you!"
"Yeah right! Besides, it's not possible."
"Got a boyfriend then?"
Kristi drops her gaze and murmurs, "Yes."
"Does Justin know?"
"Sort of."
"Kristi, not to impose, but you should tell him."
"I will! I just need to figure some things out first."
"Well, if you ever feel that you need to actually talk, let me know. I'll be here for you."
"Thanks," Kristi replies before changing the topic.
Kristi waves good-bye to Rebecca who dropped her off home and enters the house.
"Where have you been?" demands a deep male voice.
"William! I've been out," Kristi says, closing the door.
"No duh! Where and with whom?"
"Someone from work. Nothing big."
"Who is it?"
"Just a friend! William, calm down."
"I won't when I know you've been cheating on me you whore!"
"What are you talking about?"
"One of my guys told me he saw you with some curly haired guy today. Want to tell me about that?"
"So you have spies watching me now? That's unbelievable William!"
"Does it matter? You still are cheating on me with some curly head freak!"
"I'm not cheating on you!"
"Stop lying! Where else have you been for the past two days? I'll tell you! You were with another guy!" William yells, advancing on Kristi, forcing her to back up against the door.
"William, stop!"
"Why? Am I scaring you Kristi? Oh, you poor little thing. Maybe you should have remembered that you were my girlfriend before you allowed some other guy to touch you! Now you're going to have to pay!"
"William... Please," Kristi begins to beg, fighting to talk through her tears as she sees him draw back his arm and come flying towards her.
"Where is she?" Justin asks, pacing around the set the next morning.
"Justin, calm down. She'll be here. She's probably just late," Rebecca says, hiding her own worries about Kristi.
"This is so cute! Justin is actually worrying to death over a girl!" Joey exclaims.
"Shut up! Something is wrong, I can feel it! She usually isn't late."
"Justin, calm down! I'm sure she'll be here," JC says, trying to comfort his distressed friend.
"Look! There she is!" Lance exclaims, causing Justin to look the indicated way and start running over to her.
"Kristi! I've been so worried!"
"I'm sorry I'm late. I had trouble getting out of bed this morning," Kristi says, looking down at her feet.
"As long as you're fine, it's no problem. Make-up did wonders to your face for the abuse scene today. It almost looks real."
"Kristi! They need you in make-up pronto!" Rebecca instructs, walking towards the two.
"She's already been there."
"No, she hasn't. What are you talking about?"
"Then why-" Justin begins to ask, looking more closely at Kristi's face, as Kristi turns around.
"Okay Rebecca. I'm on my way," Kristi says, running off.
"Rebecca? Did you see her face?" Justin asks.
"I saw but I don't want to believe it."
"What?"
"She hinted at this last night at dinner but I didn't want to believe it. Justin, she has a boyfriend. Unfortunately, I believe that she is being abused by him. What can we do?"
"I don't know but I'm going to kill the bastard!"
"No! That won't help. We need to be there for Kristi and figure out how to end this. Promise me you won't do anything."
After a few silent moments, Justin nods his head. "Fine. I just want her to be safe and free from any harmful person."
"She will be. We just have to be patient and let her handle this the way she sees fit as long as it is safe. I have faith that she will talk to one of us if she ever really needs to."
