MICHAEL GRUBER!

Michael Gruber has one of the best singing voices I have ever heard. He sings a great deal in The Cats Video!

What I know: (Which is unfortunately not much)

The Man:

Micheal was born on November 1st (Yesterday was his 37th b-day!) 1963! (Thanks Xavyera)

Michael Gruber grew up in Cincinnati, Ohio

He recieved National All-American status for his diving, but instead decided to study theater by his freshman year in college.

After gradutating from Indian Hill High School in 1982, Michael went on to begin his career in acting at the Cinncinating College Conservatory of Music, as well as Michigan State University. (Close to where I live!)

His Work:

He played Munkustrap in the video of "CATS" and did a terrific job!

He used to play in "The History of Sex" ?? Don't know anything about that play. He played in it as the Marquise de Sade Hmmm... sounds wierd, just a little...Who knows!

Had a few stints on soap operas on Television.

He was in the ensemble of both Miss Saigon and My Favorite Year. (Which didn't run long :( )

He made his Broadway debute in the final company of A Chorus Line as "Mike.

He played in Good News as Tom.

Also in Singing in the rain as Don.

Good News and Singing in the Rain were recorded and eventually released in stores! (We can get some!)

He starred in numerous other shows since CATS, The Wizard of Oz (as the Tin Man at Madison Square Gardens with Rosanne), Follies (at the Paper Mill Playhouse), and recently a Broadway concert tour of The Who's TOMMY as Cousin Kevin.

Michael Gruber is in the new musical 'Swing!' Michael has numerous singing and dancing parts in'Swing!' He has more singing than dancing scenes however. He has a wonderful tap number called Billy-A-Dick. It is about the neighbors in the apt. above his being jazz musicians. They play at all hours of the night and keep up the entire floor below them. All the neighbors on that floor come to Michael's apt. to see if they can do anything. They all wear pj's and tap out rhythms which the drummer mimicks. They also sing about them and everything. Michael Gruber took a leave from Swing! and is now in Wichita, Kansas as Don Lockwood in Singing In The Rain. From there he will be in Philledelphia (sp) to play as Saul in the musical Rags, at the Walnut Street Theater. :) Thanks Kristie!
