Around 5 years ago I started researching Morab horses for a painting that I hoped would represent the Morab breed ideal. I gathered pictures of every pure bred Morgan/Arabian bred and registered Morab that I could find. After around thirty photos I realized that it would be many years before a true Morab breed standard would come to life. There were few if any pure bred Morab to Morab breedings and these were the horses that would really help me with a painting. I then began to collect photos of well known Arabian and Morgan Stallions and Mares from as many different breeding programs as I could. After reviewing over 500 horses I began to sketch what I thought theses horses would produce if bred together. This took almost a year and when the final painting(shown as my wall paper) was done, I was very happy with it, but vowed to do another in the future when I would be able to document more Morab to Morab crosses.
All this corresponded with the breeding for my first pure bred Morab and the search for the perfect Morgan stallion to cross onto my very typy and refined Arabian mare. The painting was always in the back of my mind and I wanted this resulting foal to look as close to my ideal vision as I could.
After discussing this with the Morgan breeder and now good friend, it was exciting when she said that my foal, in her opinion would look very close to my ideal, except she thought that the hocks would be much deeper denoting the park type movement in the breeding of my mare and her stallion.
The first week in June 1995 my little bundle was born. It took two years and three breeding to finally settle my mare and the wait was more than I could stand. To my sheer joy a dark red bay with a small star and no white marking on her legs was born. It was like the painting came to life for me and my ideal was now a reality. This foal was the work of many years of research, thought, and dreams. She will be the foundation for Bomar Farm. We were so happy with her that my brother and partner in our farm bought her half sister a lovely morgan mare with the same type and movement.

We will be updating shortly pictures of our horses, their ancestors and documentation of the value and result of crossing Morgans with Arabians to create one of the most exciting new breeds in America.

This lovely Dominator daughter recently came to live at Bomar. She is owned by Robert Ponto and extends the focus of Bomar to now include a small Morgan breeding program that focusses on the wonderful Command/Ben Don Morgan lines.
