Yes, it's still summer!!!!
And one thing I do a lot of in the summer is go to the Drive-In.
But somewhere down the line things went awry!
It musta happened when I was in the back seat with .... well you know who you were.

Anyway, what happened was somewhere, somehow, inperceptably Drive-Ins started to suck. Now they are not sucking in the extreme like network television, the experience of cramming the family/friends/favourite girl/not so favourite girl but she's easy in the vehicle and watching a double feature, while eating chilli dogs at intermission is still there. But what is really sucking is the movies. The B-movies of yesteryear are gone...now I gotta watch the God-awful crap they turn out in the Mainstream.

Still, like a junkie to heroin, I have to go to the drive-in. And I got to tell you after seeing such epics in banality as DR. DOOLITTLE (I liked 'blaxploitation' when they were still violent), FAST AND THE FURIOUS (shh..but I kinda liked this one, I was bored of Point Break anyway), SCARY MOVIE 2 (I haven't seen Scary Movie 1 yet, and I don't think I ever will now) and , well, I'm not even going to mention that Hugh Grant thing (and not just because I forget what it was called), I NEED some B-movie Independant type stuff to watch...

So using a very scientific method (putting a bag over my head and spinning three times and feeling around the room for videos), I chose 5 movies for a marathon watch. Two out of 5 movies were made by TIM RITTER. Could this be mere co-incidence, or was God trying to tell me to do a Tim Ritter flick as movie of the week?? I don't know , but I'm not taking any chances of pissing off God, he all ready fucks with me enough....

So this week (finally, I must stop this rambling, or else start a separate page for Rants) I picked my favorite Tim Ritter flick:

KILLING SPREE

OK, so without giving too much away, cause I think the cool plot twist is what made me really like this flick, this guy with an awesome looking wife is stuck in a bit of a financial bind (aren't we all) and so is forced to work a lot of hours (tell me about it). Sounds like a shitty kind of rut to be in (and believe me it is), but things get worse. He finds a diary type notebook of his wife's, and in it, it descibes how she is ballin' everyone from his boss to the yard-boy.

Well rather than just confront his wife, he makes the mistake all us guys do, and starts killing all the basterds that are nailing his wife. And then it starts to get a little gory. And by-the-Sweet-Jesus, it gets gorier! Really, really Gory!

It starts kind of a like Shakespearian-like tragedy really, with a hero with great potential only with a fatal flaw (jumping to conclusions). BUT, like other Tim Ritter movies I've seen, it seems to start really-plot oriented, but as the gore factor builds up, the story goes out the window and anything goes. I cannot help but wonder if it is intentional or if it just works out that way. It's almost surreal the way anything can happen, really hoppy-cool like actually, and did I mention there are Zombies in this one....

AND check this out.... you can get it right now HERE for a mere $9.99US or even less (+shipping, damn the post office), even cheaper than the drive-in.

So Kiddies, what have we learned??

HOLLYWOOD = recycled formulaic crap

INDIE MOVIES = a decent chance for something original, and besides it's easier to kiss your girl (and I'm taking to you girls out the too) when she is turning her head from the screen in fear or disgust....

also

TIM RITTER = cool Indie Horror flicks

COST OF FAMILY/DATES/FRIENDS/HITCHHIKER GOING TO DRIVE-IN = cost of a couple indie videos (cause lord knows you can't rent them), a pizza, and a six-pack...

And now, you can get it on DVD too:

* the other Tim Ritter movie I picked was CREEP, but TRUTH OR DARE is my real second favourite...
