What is a special interest of yours? What do you wonder about within the contex of your interest? Research, to me, is about wonderings that are worth pursuing.You should be able to:

1-Formulate and reformulate the questions that will guide your research.
2-Carefully describe the data you have collected.

To do this you will:

1- List potential research topics.
2- Choose one.
3- Why do you need to research this topic?
4- List as many questions as you can think of about the topic.
5- What questions about the topic can you ask?
6- What individual(s) or group(s) could learn or benefit from the information you may find?
7- What is your purpose for this project? Explain what you hope to accomplish by investigating this topic/question.
8- What research do you need to do to answer the questions? List sources you could/will use. Be as specific as possible.
