In an argument essay we aim to convince someone to join our side of an issue. We also use persuasion when we want a person to take action on a cause.
You need to acknowledge that there are two sides to the issue. After you acknowledge the opposing side, you can use refutation (anticipate what an opponent will say and then answer the objection ahead of time) or concession (yield a small point to your opponent, but claim a larger point on your own side).
