Welcome to the Travel page
This page is dedicated to travel, and moving about in and around Rome.
Rome has an extensive bus service, which is constantly being improved in terms of punctuality and number of services per day on each route. Fares are relatively inexpensive, and your best bet, if you want to get around Rome for the day with no specific destination, is to buy the daily ticket which allows you the use of the complete bus network of Rome for the whole day with no limitation on distance or number of buses. Alternatively, you can purchase a 75 minute bus ticket which allows unlimited travel for that amount of time. You pass the ticket through the ticket machine on your first bus, and then again on the last bus. You may stay on the last bus even after the ticket has expired providing the second time stamp on the ticket was printed within 75 minutes of the first. You must purchase bus tickets in advance, since they are not sold on the buses themselves. Most tobacconists and newsagents sell bus and underground tickets. The underground is rather limited in Rome, since it consists only of two lines (A and B lines), but is rather fast if you have to move from the center of Rome to the suburban area and viceversa. Check on a map how far it is between your last underground stop and your destination, because if you have to wait for another bus, it may make more sense to go directly by bus. The 75 minute bus ticket also allows you one travel on the underground. Rome City Council has a search facility which you can use to find out the route of buses in Rome. Try it, it's quite good.
