Melissa Scully, Dana's older sister. resembles her slightly, with red hair and hazle eyes. Unlike her sister she is a believer but has a tendency to spout New Age jargon. She claims she can read auras, announcing that her sister in her coma was deciding whether to live or die. By Margaret Scully's account, her oldest daughter was not a tomboy like Dana. Melissa was shot dead by Alex Krycek, mistaking her for Scully. Margaret Scully and Albert Hosteen kept a bedside vigil for her but to no avail. When Melissa dies, a greif-stricken Dana Scully says, "she died for me".
