One of the things that I really enjoy doing is reading. I typically read a little each day, it's like my personal time. I have a wide variety of taste in books- basically, I like anything that's written well, although I'm not incredibly crazy about science fiction or fantasy books. Here are some books that I enjoy, and you might too. Their websites are also here (if they have one), and many have links to Amazon.com so you can check the book out for yourself. Feel free to send me an email with any comments!!
Earth's Children is a six-book series (four of which are written thus far) written by Jean Auel, who is a wonderful author. These books are about Ayla and Jondalar, and their journeys. The books in this series are:
Clan of the Cave Bear
The Valley of Horses
The Mammoth Hunters
The Plains of Passage
The fifth, and much anticipated book, is not out yet. Here are a few sites about Jean Auel and the Earths Children books.
I absolutely love the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Trilogy written by this author. These books are enormously funny and entertaining- many a "inside joke" have been made among me and my friends who have read the book.
For example: Upon messing up a couple bars of a song in jazz band on a friday afternoon, my friend and I told our instructor that we were messing up because it was a Thursday. And don't forget- even if your math teacher tells you the answer is the negative square root of 53, you can tell him the answer to everything is 42.
Anyway, these are awesome books and I recommend that you read each of the five books in the trilogy (yes, the trilogy) for the full effect of following Arthur Dent's crazy life, but each book is entertaining in it's own right.

Michael Crichton is a famous author, and has published many bestsellers. I enjoy his books very much, they're written well and keep you in suspense.
Some of his books I've enjoyed a lot are:
The Andromeda Strain
Sphere
Congo
The Lost World
Also, here are a couple sites about Michael Crichton & his books.
Kathleen O'Neal Gear has written three books on her own, along with seven co-written with W. Michael Gear. Her books are mainly about ancient Native American peoples. They are very well written and interesting -- I enjoyed every one I've read.
Here are a couple books co-written by Kathleen O'Neal Gear and W. Michael Gear, which are part of the First North American Series. You can buy these off the internet from Amazon.com. Just click the link!
People of the Masks
People of the Mist
People of the Silence

Jonathan Swift is probably most famous for writing Gulliver's Travels. I read this book after watching the movie, and once you get the hang of his writing, the satirical way he explains everything, this book is amazing. It's extremely well writing, and incredibly interesting.
And, for those of you with stronger stomachs, try reading these essays by Jonathan Swift, wherein he explains a solution for his native Irelands' "troubles":
A Modest Proposal and Other Satrical Works
The first book I read by Ms. Tepper was The Family Tree. My first impression as I began to read the book was that is was sort of mediocre, because I am not a great fan of science fiction or fantasy, but I soon learned otherwise. Her writing is unique, everything blends together without it seeming to "coincidental". And it is neither science fiction nor fantasy, but "speculative fiction". It all seems very real and probable. I loved readingThe Family Tree- it left me ready for more, and so far I've read almost every book I have found by this superb author, including these works:
And my personal fairy-tale favorite: Beauty
Although a lot of the reading I've done is from contemporary or "best-selling" authors, I'm currently reading through some the more classic and time-tested works. I highly recommend these books- if you haven't read them yet, you should!!
