The Summer of 2001 OK, updates have been far and between, but anyway, here goes.
I decided to try the EEC-IV after all, and during the winter I fitted the EFI system. The wiring looks complicated at the first glance, but in reality it is just a case of mating the Sierra loom to the Capri loom in two or three places, plus sort out the +12V feeds and ground points. I have a word-document on how it can be done, mail me if you are interested.
At first I had some problems with the main relay releasing when the voltage dropped due to the starter, but when that was fixed, the engine started immediately. It runs a lot better than it did with the K-jetronic, but it is still not as refined as it could be. I have been trying to find the cure all year, but unfortunately it still is a bit rough.
I also fitted BMW 3-series (E30) discs on the front, drilled and grooved. Fitting those involved redrilling the bolt pattern, enlarging the centre hole, and reducing the overall diameter with about 2 mm. These discs fill the entire Volvo calipers, but since I haven't had the chance to drive on a racetrack this year, it is hard to say if and how much the braking has improved.
I also got a good deal on a turbo-tail, so I couldn't resist fitting the classic (in the world of Capris) two-plane spoiler. A bit boy-racer, but it does suit the Capri...
