My 1937 Willys Pickup

This is the sad remains of a USA 1937 Willys sedan which had been burnt out buldozed and dumped in a creek bed but you have to start with something.

This 1940 Willys ute was purchased from Flynn'sWreckers in Cooma for $600 just for the chassis and lower cowl section.  The rest was not wasted but traded for other parts with other rodders, one who
needed a roof and rear ute sections.
The remains were fitted to the ute cowl
section, notice the twist in the body from     being dumped in the creek or the buldozer.
This is all that was used from the bodyshell the roof section had been cut off by someone else before I could pick up the
body shell  but was tracked down and
purchased.
The cowl section was welded up and with front fenders fitted it almost looks like a car.
With new doors procured the rest of the body was fitted up and welded together.
The front & rear suspension were fitted into place and now it's starting to look cool.
With the Chevy V8 engine fitted into place the firewall had to be recessed 6 1/2" to clear everything.

As you can see it fits a bit tight but it
will work. The Radiator was a dummy
one from a Holden Commodore.
The Pickup bed was made at tech using
 Blueprints obtained from Charlie Stephens
a Mid America Willys Club member
As better fenders and doors were found
they were fitted in place. The hood is still
the original one found with the body.
Headlamps from a Ford Anglia found to be the right size and were adapted into place note the sleepy eye.
The floor frame was fabricated from
various size square tube.
The front end is Mitsubishi L300 with
HG Holden stubs, P76 Disc brakes,
 Toyota Camry power steering R & P.
The chassis was boxed and fitted with
extra crossmembers at rear for the LPG
tank.  The Diff is an 8" from a Mustang   on Datsun Pickup Semi-eliptic springs
  The Wheels are American 5 spoke style mags   8 1/2" x 15" rear, 6" x 14" front.
The Booster is from a Holden Gemini with
Late  Holden M/cyl with homemade pedal
assembly.
Stock Chevy ram horn manifolds will be used although the lack of clearance with the
steering uni will need to be sorted out.
The Willys tailgate was found on the net in
the US and sent over, the lower panel will
have a licence plate, 50 pontiac taillamps
with a tow hitch hidden behind licence plate.
The is how the Cab looked after coming back from the body shop and after sandblasting. my son Matt is giving it a light coat of plastic filler.

Other side of Cab with  new seat frame   Different view, back of seat folds forward
