Petty Experience Pictures

I gotta tell you the story behind this group of pictures. I left home without my camera, but had the good sense to stop and buy a disposable on my way to the track. I passed it off to a buddy and took maybe half a roll at the track. We had a highschool football game that night, and seein' as how I'm Pit Boss and Crew Chief in charge of hauling the equipment, I gave the camera to my wife and told her to shoot up the rest of the roll so I could get it developed the next day.

We were in different vehicles since I was driving the equipment bus, and when we got home after the game I asked her for the camera. You should have seen the look on her face when she told me she left in layin' in the grandstands at the field.

Since I have a key to the football field, I flew back over there but I was too late. It was gone.

I called the Band director the next day, but alas...no one had turned it in. I wrote it off as lost.

Now its about 8 months later and my daughter comes in with a pack of pictures. It seems that someone had turned it in a couple of weeks later, but he had forgot I had asked about it. He ran across it one day and had the camera developed to see if it belonged to anyone he knew. I don't have to tell you I was right glad to get the pictures! Thanks Mr. Fowler!!

Anyway....heres a few more pics from my day at the track. Click on the thumbnails for a bigger view.

This one is me beside the 3 car. It was not one of the student cars, but one set up with dual seats for the ride along program.

Here I am with my standard publicity shot. This is the one I'll be autographing when I'm rich and famous.

The instructor buttons up the window net, and tells me...."Good luck!"

Now I'm strapped in and ready to go. I just wish they would hurry up and give me the green!

This is after the run. Can you tell I was excited? I feel the need.....THE NEED FOR SPEED!!!
