Mustang Research Letter

How it Works?
"Has anyone seen one of these?"
or
"What's wrong with this picture?"

is what this newsletter is about.

This publication was designed to fill a perceived need of hobbyist and Mustang owners throughout the world who administer registries and have research or database projects. Our main focus is information concerning assembly, production and methods used in building Mustangs from 1964 - 1973.

The publication allows participants a chance to share ideas, ask questions, request support and a place to publish, for review, articles prior to national publication. We do not offer a subscription service and require participation from those that receive it. All input and responses are anonymous so that not one persons opinion has more importance than another. We also work as a collection point for all information concerning Mustangs.  Information, once received, is sent out, as support, to those doing research in that area.  The Mustang Research Letter is free at this time (and I hope to keep it that way) to participants.  Our numbers include many of the leaders in the hobby plus many average owners who possess an extra ordinary drive for knowledge and information.

Buck Tag Project

This issues research project centers around buck tags. Many attempts at compiling a complete list of codes (and their meanings) has been attempted. Some of the problems associated with this sort of task is that each assembly plant used different  codes for each year and different from plant to plant according to a number of plant managers that have been kind enough to contact us.. Also the problem of finding a large enough sample of tags and their related options.  To this end we invite you to participate in the following project.

We are asking all that are interested to locate, copy  (photo or pencil rub) 10 (or more) buck tags. These can be found at wrecking yards, car shows (ask the owner  first) , personal and friends cars.  Include door tag  information and/or a list of options, it is real important. Ten cars should not be a real problem for most of us. Send them along with one dollar (to cover a small part of postal and copying cost). What you will receive in return is copies of all the ones sent in. The final due date for inclusion is Feb. 1997.  Responses can be mailed to Mustang Research Letter, P.O. Box 86, Lathrop CA 95330.
