PREMISE
Forensics expert, Dr. Dawn Holliday (Cheryl Ladd) is hired away from the Los Angeles Coroner's office to be the State of Hawaii's new Medical Examiner. With a jurisdiction which stretches from the Hawaiian Islands to American Samoa and all points in between, it is a dream assignment, pitting Holli's cutting edge knowledge of Forensic Medicine and Homicide against the explosive world of crime in the burgeoning world of the Pacific Rim.
Using all of those latest forensic skills, thus dominating the headlines in this era of the 'big trial,' Holli often finds herself at odds with the more conventional methods of Honolulu P.D., especially top homicide detective, Lt. Mack Wolfe (Richard Burgi), with whom she immediately develops a volatile, love-hate relationship.
Executive Producer Glen Larson's unparalleled string of successful television series include the premier medical show in the world of Forensics, the eight-year network hit, "Quincy M.E." Combining the successful elements of "Quincy" with another of Larson's shows, the most successful hour drama in television history, "Magnum P.I.," also set in Hawaii, the result is another worldwide hit, One West Waikiki.
In addition to its alluring home production base of Honolulu, One West Waikiki has filmed episodes in locations from California to New Zealand to the Island of Samoa to recreate the actual jurisdictional story opportunities of Hawaii's real life Medical Examiner, Doctor Kanthi DeAlwis, whose actual files and technical advice have added significantly to the show's contemporary feel.
