Agadir December 1999
The Visits to Agadir 1999
- Back Again...

The second time 1999 I went to Morocco and Agadir was 16th December. As usual I had almost the feeling of coming home when I departed the airplane at Al Massira Airport outside Agadir.
The staff at the Residence Shems recognized me and welcomed me with big smiles and many words.
This was just a one week holiday, so I focused on spending time in the sun and seeing friends. I didn't believe my ears when I got to Agadir - the Ramadan had started again. The thought had not even blinked though my conscience that there could be two Ramadan the same year. Well, there was nothing to do.

The room was almost as comfortable as the last one. The bed was called Queen size - no comments necessary... There was one pittoresque detail - a bullethole in the window.

I hadn't written to anyone but my best friend Mehdi and Yousef at Le Moka that I was coming.
Mehdi had got a job, and told me lots about it. Tuff working conditions, but yet a job - his first real job and a start. We spent a lot of time together as usual. Among the things we did was that I introduced him to the fascinating world of Internet. He has now his own e-mail address. I sometimes have the impression of being the Satan from West, telling stories and showing things I'm quite convinced the authorities doesn't want the citizens to know much about.

Hassanand Mehdi.

As always I'm lucky to meet nice people when I'm in Agadir. This time I got to know this good looking young man - Khalid.

Khalid

We really tried to pass some time together just the two of us, but there were always something that didn't work out. There were wrong night porters at my hotel, land lords in houses that didn't leave the house when they should, friends who came on visit when they were not expected... But next year...
One week passes very fast, too fast. Thursday night the plane home left at midnight, and X-mas morning I landed at Arlanda International Airport after a boring and sleepless night flight.

It was quite dark, it was snowing and it was -3C. I killed an instinct of running to the plane and beg them to take me back to the sun, the warmth, the blue skyes and gentle men of Agadir.

But I will go back again - soon!

Insh'Allah!
