(Personal Note: Mom liked her first bun cover so much she asked me to make another one. This time she wanted the entire thing covered with some sort of loop or ruffle. When I was through with it, it came out very thick. It's perfect for people who have thin hair and do not have much of a bun when they put their hair up. This bun cover makes it appear that a person actually has hair filling it up. LOL. Mom loves it.)
Materials:
*One skein Lion Chenille Sensations - London Print (This is a varigated peacock color. For me it was easier to work with rather than the solid black I made later. The black made it hard to see where I was at in my pattern.),
*Wooden Britteny hook size G (4.25 mm),
*One hair band.
Picot stitch used here: Ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook.
Half-double-crochet (hdc): Yarn Over (yo) hook and insert hook into next stitch (st). Yo and pull yarn through loop (lp) (3 lps on hook). Yo and pull yarn through the 3 lps on hook. You have completed one hdc.
Instructions: Ch 4, join.
Rnd 1: Ch 1, 8 sc in ring. Sl st in front loop only of beg sc to join. [Mark back loop with piece of contrasting color thread. Continue doing this for each round.]
Note: Rnds 2 - 7 are worked in two parts. The first part is worked in the front loops only of previous rnd. The second part is worked in the remaining back loops of previouse rnd.
TIP: Be sure to mark the beginning stitch and last stitch in Part II of each round with contrasting color threads. This will help you a whole lot since you will be dealing with two parts for each round. Plus the fact that chenille tends to blend into itself. Making it hard to identify seperate strands and stitches.
Also: The beginning ch-4 in parts I = first hdc w/picot for each round &
The beginning ch-2 in parts II = first hdc for each round.)
