Fabrizio looked on in amusement as Jack, never one to overly concern himself with what was proper, smiled and winked flirtatiously at the girls. Blushing and giggling in response, they hurried on their way.
Fabrizio, who was used the responses Jack could usually get out of females, just by smiling at them, chuckled to himself. Between his looks, and his easygoing personality, Jack had the unique ability to charm just about everybody he met. Yet, for the entire two years that he had known him, Fabrizio had never known Jack to enter into any serious relationship, or any relationship at all for that matter. He seemed content just to flirt with the women he met. On one occasion, when Fabrizio had asked him why, Jack had simply replied, "it's never felt right."
As they approached a tavern, Jack tapped him on the arm.
"Look at her, isn't she incredible?" Jack was pointing at a ship that was looming over the buildings. "Imagine what it would be like to sail on her!"
Fabrizio looked in the direction Jack had indicated and his jaw dropped when he caught sight of Titanic. "I Could only imagine, never afford it."
"Still", Jack sighed, "It would be nice to go home again." He smiled somewhat sadly and moved on into the tavern. Fabrizio followed, puzzled by his normally cheerful friend's sudden shift in mood. ---
Trudy was just putting the finishing touches on Rose's hair, when there was a knock at the door. "Rose, are you ready yet?" It was Cal.
"Yes Cal, come on in."
Caledon Hockley entered the room. He was tall, with a commanding presence and carried himself with an arrogant demeanor. Too arrogant, as far as Rose was concerned. He looked at her, "My God, you're not seriously planning on wearing that, are you" She was wearing a dress that was mostly black in colour. "Don't you know that it's bad luck to wear black on the first day of sailing? Even if the ship is unsinkable."
Rose shot him a glare. "It's what I feel like wearing today."
After a quick knock on the door, her mother entered. "Ruth, could you please talk some sense into your daughter. You can't possibly allow her to wear that!" Cal shot out as he stalked out of the room!
"You're not considering wearing that dress today, are you?" Ruth said as she shut the door that joined their two suites. "You'll have to change immediately."
