Welcome, matey! So.... Ye want to sing along with us pirates, do ye? Well then. Sit yerself down, and we'll pull out our instruments to play ye some music. Mind ye, we don't be the Metropolitan Opera group singin' some Gilbert and Sullivan musical, so ye best be prepared for some dogs to be howlin'! Some of these be modern, some be ancient. The ancient ones are actual shanties the sailors used to sing while working on the ships. ARRRRR! Strike up the band, mateys!

Sailing for Adventure
By: Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil

KING THOMAS & OLIVERETTES:
When the course is laid and the anchor's weighed
A sailor's blood begins racing
With our hearts unbound and our flag unfurled
We're under way and off to see the world
Under way and off to see the world

KING THOMAS, OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Hey ho we'll go
Anywhere the wind is blowing

OLIVERETTOS:
Manly men are we

OLIVERETTES:
Sailing for adventure on the deep blue sea

ADRI:
Safely now, TJ. Let's not get
sloppy just because we're singing!

OLIVERETTES:
Danger walks the deck we say what the heck
We laugh at the perils we're facing

KING THOMAS:
Every storm we ride is its own reward

BLUE:
And people die by falling overboard

ADRI, BABS, FALCONFYRE & TAILS (GRINNING):
People die by falling overboard

KING THOMAS, OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Hey ho we'll go
Anywhere the wind is blowing
Hoist the sails and sing

KRISTLING DREAMWALKER:
Sailing for adventure on the big, blue wet thing

BABS:
I love to see 'em cry when they walk the plank

ADRI:
I prefer to cut a throat

TAILS & FALCONFYRE:
We love to hang 'em high and watch their little
feet try to walk in the air while their faces turn blue

ALL FOUR:
Just kidding
It's a good life on a boat

OLIVERETTES:
There are distant lands with burning sands
That call across the ocean

JRL:
There are bingo games every fun-filled day

ROB & THE SPACE AMAZONS:
And Margaritas at the midnight buffet

OLIVERETTES:
Margaritas at the midnight buffet?

KING THOMAS, OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Hey ho we'll go
Anywhere the wind is blowing

WHITE ZEO & JOANNE:
Should have took a train

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Sailing for adventure on the bounding main

KING THOMAS:
The salty breezes whisper
Who knows what lies ahead
I just know I was born to lead the life my father led

KING THOMAS & OLIVERETTES:
The stars will be our compass
Wherever we may roam
And our mates will always be
Just like a family
And though we may put into port the sea is always home

KRISTLING DREAMWALKER:
Take it Rocky, Tim & Einny! I didn't know you
had such good singing voices! You're
welcome!

OLIVERETTES:
We'll chase our dreams standing on our own
Over the horizon to the great unknown

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Hey ho we'll go
Anywhere the wind is blowing
Bold and brave and free
Sailing for adventure

YOSTIES:
It's so nauseating

KING THOMAS & OLIVERETTES:
Sailing for adventure

OLIVERETTOS:
So exhilarating

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Sailing for adventure

ADRI, BABS, FALCONFYRE & TAILS:
We're all celebrating

KING THOMAS, OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
On the deep blue sea!

Shiver My Timbers
By: Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Shiver my timbers, shiver my soul
Yo oh heave ho
There are men whose hearts as black as coal
Yo oh heave ho

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
And they sailed their ship cross the ocean blue
A blood-thirsty captain and a cutthroat crew

FALCONFYRE:
It's as dark a tale as was ever told
Of the lust for treasure and the love of gold

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Shiver my timbers, shiver my sides
Yo oh heave ho
There are hungers as strong as the wind and tides
Yo oh heave ho

LADY SKYHAWK:
And those buccaneers drowned their sins in rum

BABS:
The devil himself would have to call them scum

ADRI:
Every man aboard would have killed his mate
For a bag of guineas or a piece of eight
TAILS: A piece of eight
BLUE: A piece of eight
RED: Five, six, seven, eight

LA MER:
Hulla wacka ulla wacka something not right
Many wicked icky things gonna happen tonight
Hulla wacka ulla wacka sailor man beware

TEEJ:
When de money in the ground dere's murder in de air
BLUE: Murder in de air
ADRI: One more time now

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Shiver my timbers, shiver my bones
Yo oh heave ho
There are secrets that sleep with old Davy Jones
Yo oh heave ho

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
When the mainsail's set and the anchor's weighed
There's no turning back from any course

ADRI & TAILS: And when greed and villainy sail the sea
You can bet your boots there'll be treachery

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Shiver my timbers, shiver my sails
Dead men tell no tales

Tommy's Gone to Hilo
O, Tommy's gone, what shall I do?
Hey-yay to Hilo!
O, Tommy's gone, and I'll go too.
Tommy's gone to Hilo!

2. O, I love Tom and he loves me,
Hey-yay to Hilo!
He thinks of me when out to sea.
Tommy's gone to Hilo!

3. O, away around to Callao,
Hey-yay to Hilo!
The Spanish girls he'll see, I know.
Tommy's gone to Hilo!

4. O, Tommy's gone forevermore,
Hey-yay to Hilo!
I'll never see my Tom no more.
Tommy's gone to Hilo!

Fifteen Men on a Deadman's Chest
Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
The mate was fixed by the bosun's pike
The bosun brained with a marlinspike
And cookey's throat was marked belike
It had been gripped by fingers ten;
And there they lay, all good dead men
Like break o'day in a boozing ken
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

2. Fifteen men of the whole ship's list
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Dead and be damned and the rest gone whist!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
The skipper lay with his nob in gore
Where the scullion's axe his cheek had shore
And the scullion he was stabbed times four
And there they lay, and the soggy skies
Dripped down in up-staring eyes
In murk sunset and foul sunrise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

3. Fifteen men of 'em stiff and stark
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ten of the crew had the murder mark!
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Twas a cutlass swipe or an ounce of lead
Or a yawing hole in a battered head
And the scuppers' glut with a rotting red
And there they lay, aye, damn my eyes
Looking up at paradise
All souls bound just contrawise
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

4. Fifteen men of 'em good and true - '
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
Ev'ry man jack could ha' sailed with Old Pew,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!
There was chest on chest of Spanish gold
With a ton of plate in the middle hold
And the cabins riot of stuff untold,
And they lay there that took the plum
With sightless glare and their lips struck dumb
While we shared all by the rule of thumb,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

5. More was seen through a sternlight screen...
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Chartings undoubt where a woman had been
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
'Twas a flimsy shift on a bunker cot
With a dirk slit sheer through the bosom spot
And the lace stiff dry in a purplish blot
Oh was she wench or some shudderin' maid
That dared the knife and took the blade
By God! she had stuff for a plucky jade
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.

6. Fifteen men on a dead man's chest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum
Drink and the devil had done for the rest
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum.
We wrapped 'em all in a mains'l tight
With twice ten turns of a hawser's bight
And we heaved 'em over and out of sight,
With a Yo-Heave-Ho! and a fare-you-well
And a sudden plunge in the sullen swell
Ten fathoms deep on the road to hell,
Yo ho ho and a bottle of rum!

A Professional Pirate
Barry Mann, Cynthia Weil

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
When I was just a lad looking for my true vocation
My father said "Now son, this choice deserves deliberation.
Though you could be a doctor or perhaps a financier
My boy why not consider a more challenging career?"

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Hey ho ho
You'll cruise to foreign shores
And you'll keep your mind and body sound
By working out of doors

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
True friendship and adventure are what we can't live without

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
And when you're a professional pirate

ADRI:
That's what the job's about

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
Now take Sir Francis Drake, the Spanish all despise him
But to the British he's a hero and they idolize him
It's how you look at buccaneers that makes them bad or good
And I see us as members of a noble brotherhood

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
Hey ho ho
We're honorable men
And before we lose our tempers we will always count to ten

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
On occasion there may be someone you have to execute

OLIVERETTES & OLIVERETTOS:
But when your a professional pirate

BLUE:
You don't have to wear a suit

LA MER:
I could have been a surgeon
I like taking things apart

ADRI:
I could have been a lawyer
But I just had too much heart

JEREMY RAY:
I could have been in politics
Cause I've always been a big spender

TAILS:
And me...I could have been a contender

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
Some say that pirates steal and should be feared and hated
I say we're victims of bad press it's all exaggerated
We'd never stab you in the back, we'd never lie or cheat
We're just about the nicest guys you'd ever want to meet

OLIVERETTES, OLIVERETTOS & DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
Hey ho ho
It's one for all for one
And we'll share and share alike with you and love you
like a son
We're gentlemen of fortune and that's what we're proud to be
And when your a professional pirate

DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
You'll be honest brave and free
The soul of decency
You'll be loyal and fair and on the square
And most importantly

OLIVERETTES, OLIVERETTOS & DREAD PIRATE THOMAS:
When you're a professional pirate
You're always in the best of company

"Renegades, Rebels, and Rogues"

They come from the wrong side of the tracks,
They're born a breed apart,
Can't tie 'em up, can't keep 'em down,
They're clingin' to some ole star
They'll chase that restless spirit
Wherever the four winds blow,
'Cause there's another dream just around the bend
For renegades, rebels and rogues

Renegades, rebels and rogues
Eyes of fire, hearts of gold
They'll ramble till they drop,
Gamble till the money runs out,
They'll take any wrong direction,
'Cause it's in their blood to know
That all roads lead to another road
For renegades, rebels and rogues.

Daughters love 'em, daddies hate 'em
Mamas don't understand,
Whenever life deals 'em down and dirty
They play 'em another hand,
And there's a place in Heaven
For those wild and kindred souls
But they'll be raisin' Hell till then,
Those renegades, rebels and rogues

Renegades, rebels and rogues
Eyes of fire, hearts of gold
They'll ramble till they drop,
Gamble till the money runs out,
They'll take any wrong direction,
'Cause it's in their blood to know
That all roads lead to another road
For renegades, rebels and rogues

Renegades, rebels and rogues
Eyes of fire, hearts of gold
They'll ramble till they drop,
Gamble till the money runs out,
They'll take any wrong direction,
'Cause it's in their blood to know
That all roads lead to another road
For renegades, rebels and rogues

Enough, for the love of mercy, enough! Take me back to the Pirate King!!!

If ye get a sudden yearning to send a song to add to the Pirate King's Shanties, send it to Falconfyre. I be the Pirate King's Biographer/Scribe.

Some of the images here are from a fellow pirate mate's site, The Web Pirate. Ye might recognize a couple of songs from "Muppet's Treasure Island". The songs not sent to me are taken from historical texts and are public domain, unless otherwise noted.
