YAMRAAJ Cast: Mithun Chakraborty, Jackie Shroff, Mink, Kiran Kumar, Gulshan Grover & Ashish Vidyarthi Direction: Rajiv Babbar Rating: * * |
This is Mithun's film -- one more action film. But this time Mithun is without his favourite director TLV Prasad. He has been teamed up with Jackie Shroff (who now is following the footsteps of Mithun by signing many B-grade films) and director Rajeev Babbar. Underworld don Raghuraj (Gulshan Grover) is known as YAMRAAJ among the police and other criminals. Everyone wants to be in Yamraaj's position. Among them is Raghuraj's man Raja Bhaiya (Ashish Vidhyarthi) who is always scared of his boss. Then there are two friends Birju (Mithun Chakraborty) and Krishna (Jackie Shroff) who also want to have Yamraaj's fame and money. Both of them join Yamraaj's gang and are ever ready to commit any crime. In one of the assignments, Krishna kills an honest police officer Hameed (Kiran Kumar). After the crime, Krishna repents and decided to give up crime and support Hameed's family. In his work, Krishna is supported by his girlfriend (Mink). On the other hand Birju continues on the path of crime and on this way he loses his friend and also his girlfriend. But to end the film, the hero (Birju) repents and joins hands with Krishna to finish Yamraaj's rule in the city. Of the cast, Mithun has been given a Bihari get up and has performed well. Even Jackie Shroff has done justice to his role. Mink has nothing much to do except sing and dance in minimal dresses. Gulshan Grover is once again given a new get-up. This film can be rated better than Mithun's earlier lot of flops. The story is weak and there is too much of violence but then atleast it looks better than a TLV Prasad directed film. The film has everything to please the Muslim audience - a qawaali by Altaf Raja and an Ramzaan song. |
