SYNOPSIS :

Wajood means identity. This is a story of today’s youth, their dreams, aspirations & their struggle to create their identity in today’s world.

Apurva Chaudhary is the only daughter of multi-millionaire.
She is eager to learn acting, as she likes theatre. Apurva plays the lead in a ballet staged by Malhar Agnihotri an ex-student of her college. Malhar is infatuated & obsessed with Apurva, so much so, that he visualises her as his wife. Malhar is humiliated by his father for his fascination for theatre. Instead of finding a decent profession for himself and fulfill his parents dreams of doing well in this difficult world, he wastes his time in theatre where he earns pretty less.

Nihal is the son of collector Abhijit Joshi. Apurva falls in love with Nihal. Malhar is shocked that Nihal is engaged with Apurva. Enraged, Malhar reaches Mr. Chaudhary’s residence to find him socializing with the collector. Malhar pleads for Apurva’s hand. Mr. Chaudhary rejects this proposal and orders Malhar to be thrown out. In the scuffle, Malhar accidentally kills Mr. Joshi. For this, he is framed and imprisoned. Hereafter, Mr. Chaudhary terminates his daughter Apurva’s engagement with Nihal on the grounds of diversity in financial status.

Time passes. Three years later, Apurva becomes a journalist and Nihal becomes Police Officer. Malhar escapes form the jail and is presumed to be killed in an accident while travelling in a van carrying prisoners.

Nihal and Apurva meet each other at a murder investigation.
Thereafter they cross each others path very often.
Malhar cannot digest this and vows to separate them. He satiates his passion for acting by committing different crimes in different disguises. During this period Malhar meets Sophia, who instantly falls in love with him. Malhar keeps Apurva updated with his nefarious activities without disclosing his identity to her. Apurva passes the news of Malhar’s activities to Nihal. Malhar’s crime infuriates the entire police force. Nihal is ordered by the Police Commissioner to arrest Malhar or face suspension. Nihal lays a trap in order to arrest him. Malhar accepts this challenge. Disguised Malhar confronts Apurva at a stage show. Here he discloses his reality and escapes from Nihal and the police cordon laid around the theatre.

Malhar and Nihal have a face to face encounter wherein Malhar realises Apurva’s immense love for Nihal. Apurva warns Malhar for his criminal activities and pleads with him to surrender to the police. Sophia is dejected by all these revelations commits suicide. Malhar decides to surrender but not before a final meeting with Apurva.

Malhar’s desire to meet Apurva in order to express his immortal love for her is fulfilled on the stage. At the theatre, the final act has begun. Whether Nihal catches Malhar? What character is Malhar playing in the final act? How does Apurva react to all this? Creates an ideal stage for a soul-stirring climax where everybody is searching his identity who finally finds it or not is Wajood.

Climax - Inspector Nihal sees Malhar with a gun and believes that Malhar could be a threat to his love. Nihal fires at Malhar to save Apurva from his clutches. Malhar is killed. Nihal and Apurva are shocked and grieved to find a toy gun besides the body of Malhar, and are left weeping besides him.

Thus Malhar, Apurva, Nihal and Sophiya play their respective roles to prove their identities in a world full of difficulties, uncertainties and pitfalls. Each of them finally leaves a stamp of their Wajood.
