TERA JADOO CHAL GAYA Cast: Abhishek Bachchan, Kirti Reddy, Sanjay Suri, Paresh Rawal, Himani Shivpuri, Kader Khan, Farida Jalal & Johny Lever Director: A. Muthu Music: Ismail Darbar Rating: * * |
It is the directorial debut film of editor-turned-director A Muthu. The film has been adapted from Jennifer Aniston Picture Perfect. Kabir (Abhishek Bachchan) is a video photographer who stays in Agra. Pooja (Kirti Reddy) who stays in Mumbai is an advertising film-maker and is very ambitious. Her aims are that of winning an award and marrying a rich man. For one of her friend's wedding, Pooja goes to Agra, where she meets Kabir. Kabir falls for Pooja at first sight and mistakes Pooja's friendship for affection. When she returns late from Agra to attend office, her boss Mr Oberoi (Kader Khan) fires her. With the help of her friend (Jhonny Lever) she tells a lie to Mr Oberoi that because of her engagement in Agra she got delayed and shows Kabir and her photos as evidence. Now the twist: Oberoi's son Raj (Sanjay Suri) comes from abroad and Pooja falls for him. Raj also likes Pooja. On the other side Kabir comes to Mumbai in search of Pooja to express his feelings. Between Raj and Pooja's love is Pooja's lie of the engagement with Kabir. She takes Kabir's help in breaking the engagement. Finally all ends well. The drawbacks of the film are its poor direction and screenplay. The film is too lengthy and there is no novelty in the film. Performance wise it is Abhishek's film. He is a person to be watched for. In many scenes, he reminds one of Amitabh Bachchan. His dialogue delivery is perfect, is good in action scenes and has a good timing for comedy. He has to do everything in this film. What he cannot do is dance. Kirit Reddy looks cute but needs to work a lot on the dialogue delivery and in the emotional scenes. Sanjay Suri in a small role is impressive. Two people who catch your attention are Paresh Rawal and Himani Shivpuri who play the guardians of Abhishek Bachchan. Music by Ismail Darbar is good but the songs have not been placed at the right places. Vashu Bhagnani is known for spending a lot for his film. t shows - the film has excellent locales and lavish sets. Watchable only for Abhishek Bachchan, otherwise ignorable.
