PARDESI BABU

Cast: Govinda, Raveena Tandon, Shilpa Shetty, Shashikala, Mohnish Behl, Asif Sheikh & Satish Kaushik
Director: Manoj Agarwal
Rating: * *

It is a triangular love story - two heroines and one hero. The film is not original but has shades of many old and new films. Raju (Govinda), a simpleton, tired of his step mother's behaviour comes to Mumbai to his friend Happy Singh (Satish Kaushik). Raju starts staying at Mai's (Shashikala) chawl.

Chinni (Shipla Shetty) is a millionaire's daughter but runs away from home as her father wants her to get married to a boy (Mohnish Behl) of his choice. Chinni lands up in Raju's room and as usual after some fight scenes the heroine falls in love with the hero.

Chinni returns back to her father and decides to get married only to Raju. Chinni's father agrees to this, provided he fulfills his one condition -- to earn one crore rupees in a year's time. Raju leaves for his mission. Fortunately his bag gets exchanged with a similar type of bag of one crore. He goes to Darjeeling where he meets Karuna (Raveena Tandon). Karuna starts loving Raju. Situations such arise that Raju has to agree to get married to Karuna. Just in the nick of time Chinni also comes there. Now who gets the hero is the climax of the film.

There is nothing new in the film. Govinda is good but does not have those comical scenes for which he is most appreciated. Shilpa Shetty is impressive. Raveena Tandon is shown as over-innocent in this film. She has done her part well. Anand Raaj Anand's music is fairly good and has a few catchy songs like It Happens Only In India.....

Overall the film is a total hotch-potch of many films and mainly it lacks the depth of emotions which a triangular love story should have.
