Mother'98 was the original name but as it could not get released in 1998
the word 98 was deleted from the name and now it is only Mother. The film is
inspired by the 1968 Hollywood release Buonna Sera Mrs Campbell. Asha (Rekha) due to some circumstances had to sleep with three men (Jeetendra, Rakesh Roshan and Randhir Kapoor) in the same night. Asha becomes pregnant and each man thinks that she is bearing his child. So the three men give Asha lots of money for upbringing the child. 19 years later when all three men meet with their wives. All three decide to meet Asha (now Mrs Brittania) at the same time. Then come all dramas and emotions and melodrama. A really mess of a film. Neither the story nor the screenplay impresses you for a second. Rekha has given a really bad performance and more than that her wardrobe is a torture. Rakesh Roshan, Randhir Kapoor and Jeetendra should better forget about this film in their career. New comer Sanober Kabir is no way looks like a heroine. Music is poor. Direction is worse. |
