Synopsis

No One ever asked an orphan ....
He did not tell anyone what he wanted to be ..
He became what circumstances made him ....
........ A Laawaris

A hired hand of an underworld don, Captain Dada ( as the orphan is called), is known only for his hafta-vasuli and goondagiri. He cannot differentiate between good and evil in society, until he confronts adovcates Anand Saxena and his family. For the first time in his life he gets a glipse of the other side, where motives are pure i.e. - the genuine pride of a son in his father, not inspired by fear, the love and respece that the advocate and his wife Kavita share, not motivated by selfish interest, the warmth and understanding that Kavita shares with Captian, not triggered by malice.

In this time of innter turmoil Captian meets a girl, Anshu. He dreams of another world with her, another life that so far was only a mirage.

Captain has to leave his own world behind to be accepted into the other world, where honesty, righteousness and viture is respected. His choice is a difficult one because, the common mand equipped with these qualities is not honoured, and faces everyday difficulties in trying to earn a decent livelihood. Coupled with the fact that goodness is not something that the underworld don Kalra will let spread amongst his hired hands.

Captain stands at a cross road.

Will he be able to leave his world ?
Will he find acceptance at the hands of those who have helped him change ?
Will the goonda Captain become an honest Vijay ?

"Laawaris" treads its way thru these questions, in a world where answers have a high price, to be paid by life and death.
