Come on guys, have a heart. Don't try to do a Dushman (1971) and Sholay (1975) on us, please. The plea's addressed to the bejeaned-'n'-bedraggled Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan who, like Dharmendra and Bachchan, become protectors to a beleaguered family residing in Goregaon's Film City. And like Rajesh Khanna, they're simultaneously paying for their sins - the family's only son, you see, kicked the bucket because of our two denim dudes. Inadvertently, naturally. As storyless and senseless as they come, Keemat amounts to a string of back-breaking stunts (admittedly, Akshay Kumar's fire act is daring). Heroines Raveena Tandon and Sonali Bendre are saddled with roles shorter than their skirts. Sameer Malkan's direction is infuriatingly slapdash. And the music by Rajesh Roshan is about as hummable as a car horn's beep-beeps. Of the cast, only Saif Ali Khan is likeably comic. After Main Khilari Tu Anari (1994), Yeh Dillagi (1994) and Tu Chor Main Sipahi (1996), Akshay and Saif are back together. They needn't have bothered, really. |
