Review

'International Khiladi' stands for the Don of the Mafia world over. Devraj (Akshay Kumar) is crowned as the 'International Khiladi' as the film starts. The police finds the body of Vivek who was working as an informer of the police in Devraj's organisation. Vivek's friend Inspector Amit (Rajat Bedi) swears to get Devraj behind the bars. He gets the permission from the commissioner of the police to raid Devraj's house, which is like a palace. The police force raids Devraj's place with jeeps vans & helicopters. Since when did the Indian Police start making use of helicopters? Perhaps the director felt like reminding the police that it's high time they have helicopters in their ranks. Devraj is arrested and police also has a witness of the murder. Witness is Vivek's sister Payal (Twinkle Khanna). She accuses Devraj of raping her and killing her brother. From the courtroom starts the series of flashbacks that never seem to end. Nobody can keep a track of how many flashbacks the film has.

Payal was working as a journalist and wanted to do an interview with the Mafia King Devraj. She along with Focus (Johny Lever) manages to reach to Devraj's premises. Payal and Devraj fall in love. But Devraj's uncle (Mukesh Khanna) does not like this. He tries to make Devraj understand that love has no meaning in the world of crime but of no avail. In one of the flashbacks Devraj makes Payal understand the circumtances which justifies for what he is.

Devraj's comes to know that Payal's brother Vivek is working as an informer in his organisation. Payal pleads to Devraj to forgive her Vivek, which he does, and let's him go inspite of his uncle's reluctance. But Devraj's enemy Thakral (Gulshan Grover) takes advantage and gets Vivek killed by Inspector Amit. Amit tells Payal that Devraj is the killer. Payal is adamant on making Devraj pay for her brother's murder. Payal & Amit together frame Devraj for murder and rape. Payal testifies for the same.

Now Devraj is trapped. He manages to escape to find the truth. In the end he makes Thakral and Amit pay for their sins. Payal learns about everything and is sorry for testifying against her love. The film has so many flaws that one fails to understand what the director had in his mind. If this is a suspense thriller then poor audience has to pay for the agony of watching this thriller.

The sad part is that music and songs are also not good enough to come has a relief in the film. Acting wise none of the star cast is able to come out with trumps. Comedy of Johny Lever and Asrani is a comedy of errors. Romance between Akshay Kumar and Twinlke Khanna is baffling. The film has all the Umesh Mehra's ingredients like WWF wrestling with female wrestlers and all the action. In the climax there is good action where Akshay Kumar does para diving. The film has lot of misunderstanding among the characters and I sincerely doubt anyone can understand this film. The director would say the public misunderstood the film. The clause given with this film is 'International Khiladi' - almost a love story. The producer can later say 'International Khiladi' - almost a hit. The film should only be seen if a person would like to have a headache or perhaps want to count the number of flashbacks.
