DIL PE MAT LE YAAR

Cast: Manoj Bajpai, Tabu & Saurab Shukla
Director: Hansal Mehta
Rating: *

Hansal Mehta's Dil Pe Mat Le Yaar is not the routine Hindi masala film. It is different, but not at all worth watching. The first half is comedy and the second half has the hangover of writer Saurabh Shukla's previous film Satya.

Ramsaran Pandey (Manoj Bajpay) is a simple garage mechanic who has come to Mumbai from Jaunpur (Uttar Pradesh). Kamya (Tabu) is a journalist who is impressed by Ramsaran's honesty. She writes a series of articles on him which leads film maker Mahesh Bhatt to make a film on that character. Kamya agrees to it and this leads to more encounters with Ramsaran.

Ramsaran falls in love with Kamya while Kamya just thinks of him as a buddy. She rejects Ramsaran's proposal of marriage. Rejected Ramsaran feels this all happened because of his poverty and decides to earn a lot of money. Incidents make him a criminal and then shades of Satya.

There are no exciting moments in the film. Performance-wise Manoj Bajpay is good in some scenes and overacts in some. Tabu is wasted. There are some inane comedy scenes with Ramsaran's friend Gaitonde (Saurabh Shukla). Direction is average and so is the music. An avoidable film.
