DHAAI AKSHAR PREM KE Cast: Aishwarya Rai, Abhishek Bachchan, Sonali Bendre, Amrish Puri, Anupam Kher, Reema Lagoo & Sushma Seth Director: Raj Kanwar Music: Jatin-Lalit Rating: * |
This is Raj Kanwar's next release after Har Dil Jo Pyar Karega. Sadly one can say that Raj's previous film was much better than his latest release Dhai Akshar Prem Ke. The most common comment on this film is that is should be called Dhai Ghante Bore Ke. This film has been inspired from the Hollywood film A Walk in the Clouds on which just this year David Dhawan made Kunwara which flopped miserably. An army officer Karan (Abhishek Bachchan) is returning back to his home for his vacation and dreaming of his girlfriend Nisha (Sonali Bendre). He misses his train while saving Sahiba (Aishwariya Rai) from some goons and later from committing suicide. Sahiba tells Karan that she is scared to face her father (Amrish Puri) as he thinks she has eloped with her boyfriend. Now Karan goes with Sahiba to her place and is mistaken by her family as Sahiba's husband. Karan is also unable to tell the truth. Sahiba falls in love with Karan and so does Karan towards the end. All ends well that in Raj Kanwar's film. The film is a total drag. The film has been totally influenced by mega family dramas like Dilwale Dulhaniya Le Jaayenge and Hum Aapke Hain Koun -- big joint family, songs and dances. Abhishek Bachchan has made sincere efforts to rise about the script but is unsuccessful. He really has to think seriously about his wardrobe which is really very bad. Aishwariya Rai is repeating herself in a role which only needs her to cry and dance. She also has to improve expressions as sometimes they look very wooden. Other cast members are wasted. Music by Jatin-Lalit is average and direction is poor. Major flaw is the story and the screenplay. An avoidable film.
