BADAL Cast: Bobby Deol, Ranee Mukherjee, Mayuri Kango, Johny Lever, Amrish Puri, Ashutosh Rana Director: Raj Kanwar Music: Anu Malik Rating: * * |
After good films like Sarfarosh, Roja and Maachis,
Badal, based on terrorism, is not that great a film. The biggest
flaw of the film is the not-so-convincing story, where the story-writer
tries to project that a person becomes a terrorist after getting injustice
at the hands of the police and that he is the person who needs sympathy. The evil police inspector Rana (Ashutosh Rana) in search of a terrorist (Ashish Vidyarthi) slaughters the whole village, including Rajveer's (Bobby Deol) family. This incident converts Rajveer to Badal, a terrorist, whose only aim is to kill Rana. To kill Rana, Badal comes to Sundernagar. There he comes in contact with an honest police officer (Amrish Puri). The officer's family give him all the family love. He falls in love with Rani (Rani Mukherjee). The officer who treats criminals with love and affection gets a setback when he comes to know that Badal is a terrorist whose mission is to kill Rana. But as usual our hero emerges as a winner when he unmasks the corrupt Rana and saves the minister. Bobby Deol has acted well. Rani Mukherjee looks good but only sings and dances. In fact it is Amrish Puri who has given a very good performance. Music is good. The main drawbacks of the film are its story and screenplay.
