Anari No. 1

REVIEW

Anari No. 1 Anari no.1 is a comedy having all the usual Govinda ingredients. Govinda has a double role. One is son of an Industrialist Rahul Saxena - owner of Saxena Industries. The other look alike Raja works as a waiter in a five star hotel.

Raja dreams of becoming rich all the time where as Rahul is satisfied with his life and his family. Raja has no one in his life. Raja meets a millionaire businessman KK (Kader Khan) in his hotel. KK is impressed by Raja and helps him in achieving his goal. Govinda spots Sapna (Raveena Tandon) getting out of a Mercedes Benz. Raja falls in love with her and assuming that she is rich, he would also become rich by marrying her. Sapna is also not rich but a housemaid in a bungalow. Thinking that Raja is Rahul she also wants to become rich by marrying Raja.

Raja's friend Sattar Bhai (Satish Shah) is a car robber. Raja impresses Sapna by giving her lift in a car robbed by Sattar. He borrows clothes from KK. But Raja does not know the car, which he is driving, belongs to KK. Both Sapna & Raja land up in jail and come to know about each other's reality.

Meanwhile KK's daughter Sona (Simran) introduces him to her boyfriend Rahul. KK thinks Raja wants to become rich by marrying her daughter. He just can't believe that Rahul is a big industrialist. Later on he realises his mistake when he goes to Rahul's house. Anari No. 1

Raja & Sapna are released on bail paid by Sattar. Sapna tells them about the person who is very rich and looks identical to Raja. All three make a plan to kidnap Rahul. Raja will replace Rahul and later release him after Raja accumulates 15 lacs. But seeing the affection & love of Rahul's mother (Aruna Irani), Raja decides to go back where he belongs.

You must be thinking where is the villain? In comes the villain Shatru (Tiger) who wants to kidnap Rahul for a ransom. Tiger kidnaps Rahul from Raja's custody. Raja feels guilty about the whole episode and blames himself for Rahul's plight. In the end Raja manages to find Rahul's whereabouts and frees him from Tiger. Anari No. 1

The film is good in parts. Some comedy scenes are very good. It is a comedy of errors and misunderstanding due to confusion of Rahul & Raja. Govinda is good and proves he is the best when it comes to comedy. His facial expressions are wonderful. Raveena looks ravishing in the film. She plays her part pretty well. Every body has done their part well. But the highlight of the film is Johny Lever who plays Daler Bhai (Fan of Daler Mehndi). Prem Chopra and Himani Shivpuri are wasted in the film. Their characters were not needed in the film.

The film overall is okay. It is similar to David Dhawan films but not as hilarious. Music is nothing great but the songs will not bore you. Kuku Kohli has done a decent job directing this film but in the end the film becomes far too melodramatic and emotional. The film is a good choice for people to see considering all the recent films released were not up to the mark. Atleast in this film the viewer does not comes out of the theatre that he wasted time & money for the film.
