Aarzoo

'Everyday is not a Sunday' this phrase is what Lawrence D'souza must be thinking about. The cinematographer turned director in the past gave a great love triangle hit called 'Saajan', which starred Sanjay Dutt, Salman Khan & Madhuri Dixit in the lead. This time around too he worked on the similar love triangle concept comprising of Akshay Kumar, Saif Ali Khan & Madhuri Dixit. But I have already given a phrase that suits perfectly to describe this film.

Aarzoo

The story goes like this - Vijay (Akshay Kumar) is a pilot who likes Pooja (Madhuri's name was also Pooja in 'Saajan' lucky name ugh!). He does every thing to woo her and manages to win her heart. In comes Saif Ali Khan (Amar) who returns from abroad after finishing his studies out there. Amar is in love with his childhood friend Pooja since a long time but could not tell the same to his sweetheart. He is all keyed up to reach India and marry his love.

On returning back he manages to convince Pooja's father (Amrish Puri) and gets engaged to Pooja. In the mean time he also gets pally to Vijay. That's amazing isn't it? What happens next, well Vijay sends Amar for a ride in his plane. The plane blows off all of a sudden. Amar is presumed dead. Pooja comes to know that she is pregnant. Amar steps in and marries Pooja. No, no this is not the end. To keep with the tradition of Indian Heroes surviving all odds, Amar is still alive (returning from the dead).

Aarzoo

Amar believes that Vijay had conspired to kill him. He now wants to get even with Vijay. Amar masquerades by sporting a moustache and lenses. Amar join hands with his foster uncle Kailashnath (Paresh Rawal) to take revenge, not knowing the fact that Kailashnath is the person who killed Amar's folks. In the end misunderstanding between the trio is sorted out. Amar also comes to know about Kailashnath. Amar and Vijay make Kailashnath pay for his deeds.

Lawrence D'souza is a good cinematographer but the same cannot be said of his direction. The film is not edited properly. The music of the film is good with numbers like 'Saajan Saajan'. Acting wise all Madhuri, Akshay & Saif have done a decent job but they could not make any impact because of the lapses in the script. The film is a big letdown.
