The Wolf Man
The moon is out and so are the stars as monster masters Lon Chaney Jr. (Frankenstein in "Ghost
of Frankenstein" as well as the Son of Lon Chaney "the man of a thousand faces"), Claude Rains
(well known for his roles as The Invisible Man and Phantom of the Opera) and Bela Lugosi
(well known for his role as Dracula) slip into the night in search of "The Wolf Man."
Although Rains and Lugosi surprisingly don't play the main monster, they however do play key
roles in the creation and destruction of this twilight terror.
Larry Talbot (Chaney Jr.) after a long trip abroad, returns to his home, Talbot castle, and his
father (Rains), only soon after to be bitten by a gypsy man Bela (Lugosi) in the form of a
werewolf. Killing the wolf, a local doctor fears for the sanity of Talbot when all that is
found is the dead gypsy. However, the puzzle soon comes together for Talbot when after
surviving a bite from the creature, he soon finds himself howling at the moon and leaving a
trail of death wherever the night takes him.
An entertaining piece of monster mayhem, the movie may not have the bite its lead character has,
but it will certainly take more than silver bullets to keep this classic down.
Parental Note:Violence, Frightening Scenes
