What's Eating Gilbert Grape
A bland and not overly entertaining film, "What's Eating Gilbert Grape" tells the tale of
a troubled family living in a small rural town.
With their father dead, their mother having eaten herself into obesity and their mentally
disabled brother Arnie (Leonardo DiCaprio) trying their patience at every turn, we follow
Gilbert (Johnny Depp) who also living with his two sisters, remains trapped in a small town
nightmare. As dismal as things are, a small glimmer of hope rides into town as a young woman
traveling with her grandmother catches Gilbert's eye after being marooned with a broken down
car.
Even though DiCaprio's performance earned him an Oscar nomination, this movie is hardly worth
the time it takes to drag yourself through it.
Parental Note: Minor Violence, Adult Situations

The disc is single sided - dual layered and contains the original widescreen version
of the movie. The mastering is excellent, but there are few extras.
