AT WAR

At War is a three-piece band which began in Virginia Beach, Virginia. The group was formed in the mid-80s and gained popularity innitially by a series of regional shows and also from their first demo which received an extreme amount of praise in Metal Forces, an influential London-based fanzine which is sadly no longer in existance. The late Paul Miller, a journalist for Kerrang who died in 1987, also aided the band by his rave reviews in several major European publications.

At War's first album, Ordered To Kill, was innitially released by New Renaissance and manufactured and distributed by Greenworld. However, shortly after this album's release, Greenworld went out of business. Because of this, albums bearing the Greenworld label are highly valued by collectors.

At War's second full length album was entitled Retaliatory Strike. This album achieve priase in a variety of important music publications including Hit Parader, RIP, Kerrang and many others. It also achieved Top 20 radio airplay on the College Media Journal (CMJ) charts.

At War was regarded as "America's Premier Thrash Trio" throughout the 1980s and their music was often compared to Venom and Motorhead. The band accomplished many things throughout their career. They were one of the featured acts at the first Milwaukee Metal Fest and opened for countless national touring acts.
